Are you planning on visiting us over the Easter Bank Holiday? As a result of very wet weather our grass overflow car parks are currently waterlogged, we may be unable to use them over the weekend. This means we may need to close the gates for short periods of time to allow for hard standing spaces to become available. To help, please car share where possible and park neatly on arrival. The Shugborough landscape is peppered with monuments, built by Thomas Anson, to create a perfect paradise inspired by thought built in Ancient Greece. You can still spot many of the monuments on a walk through the parkland, including the Tower of the Winds, which has been reopened for the new season after being closed for annual conservation work. Reflection Sunday. Today’s walk found us at a very beautiful although slightly waterlogged Shugborough Estate. The weather today was just perfect for a good walk and we managed to get to see most of the Estate, however lots of paths were blocked off due to all the water.

Whilst our indoor historic spaces are currently closed, inside they're still a hive of activity. From buffing floors, and cleaning chandeliers our House and Collections team have been busily preparing to reopen in the coming months. The wet weather and flooding we have experienced over the last few months have taken their toll on the mansion, especially as much of the mansion basement has experienced flooding! To prepare for this, we carefully monitor the water levels, and make sure we have pumps ready to keep the basement dry. To remedy any damage the team have worked hard to remove any mould. A much less glamorous job than polishing the chandelier, but just as important! It is with your support we are able to care for these historic spaces #foreveryoneforever #ntshugborough
