2024.04.28 RACE DAY!!! Good Life Race 5K in Oak Brook! Spoiler: It was a PR! 🥳🥳🥳 I was fairly nervous going in and didn't really know what I could do. Matt believed in me, even if I didn't, bless his ❤️. Cbass and I had similar goals so the plan was just to stick close to him. The gun went off, and we were off to a fast start, right behind the first main pack. There's no such thing as getting comfortable in a 5k, so I stayed just outside of my comfort zone and forced myself to trust my legs. First mile clicked off in 5:14, somewhat too fast but manageable. Can I hold this for two more? Yeah I think so. Only 6 turns on this flat and fast course. As we navigated the long stretches, I was feeling the strain and breathing hard, although within the expected range for this distance. 2nd mile came by, 5:15. Nice, even if I run a relatively slow last mile, I should hit a PR, assuming I don't completely blow up. Can I hold it for 5-6 more min? I..um probably? Lots of pain now. Negative thoughts rising (body trying to protect itself but ugh!) The last turn was just after the 2 mile mark, so basically a 1-mile stretch to the finish line. That does funny things to my mind. I focused on getting to the next stop sign then the next. I couldn't quite hold the pace anymore and let the guys in front of me slip away but no matter. Just gotta survive for a few more minutes. I was tempted to quit with half a mile to go and again with a quarter left. So ridiculous right? But that's really what the brain does to you when you're redlining. Just shove it aside and keep pumping the legs, which by the way were threatening to lock up at this point. Finally the finish line, 16:3X. Somewhere in my mind I'm happy but it took me a long time to catch my breath. April - hat unsere Nachwuchsathletin Anna Malena, die sich aktuell in Venezuela aufhält, in der Stadt Barquisimeto, ihren ersten venezolanischen Wettkampf absolviert. Die „11. Copa de Atletismo Ecid Estrella Gonzalez“ ist ein national bedeutendes Leichtathletik-Event in Venezuela. Anna ist über die 800m gestartet und konnte sich in einem eher langsamen Lauf mit einem fulminanten Endspurt souverän den Sieg mit einer Zeit von 2:22 holen. Anna ist für den lokalen Club „Hermanos Zamora“ gestartet, um überhaupt am Wettkampf teilnehmen zu dürfen. Mit ihren TeamkollegInnen wurde sie außerdem noch dritte in der „schwedischen Staffel“ (= 4 Läufer männl./weibl. mixed nacheinander 1x100m + 1x200m + 1x300m + 1x400m). I went into this morning’s race telling myself I’d be chuffed to sneak under 18 minutes. So you can imagine my elation of coming in 34 seconds under my target! I’d had a few good interval sessions this week so I always felt confident but you just never know with these ‘shorter’ races. I managed to run the first 3k or so pretty steady then managed to pick the pace up for the last 4-5 minutes. It was also a brucey bonus to come in as first v35 runner! This has now got me hungry for more!!!! Newport 10k 2024! - 32:12 - 7th Overall 🤩 Now that is how you come back with a bang! 🔥 Went into todays race with no expectation and just wanted to run hard and set a benchmark for the rest of the summer, so that’s exactly what I did 👊 Starting quickly and soon getting into a good group with @tombaird & @mattverran, we worked well together through the first 7km keeping the pace consistent racing through the new 10k route! New PB beim @haspamarathonhamburg 💥 Das war heute aber eigentlich gar nicht so geplant… Relativ emotionslos und ohne Plan ging es an den Start. Die 3 Stunden 10 Minuten hatte ich dann aber doch nach ein paar Kilometer im Blick, wusste aber, dass mich das Wetter ab KM30 vor ordentlichen Problemen stellen würde und ich hintenraus viel Zeit an den VPs liegen lassen werde. Also lief ich die erste Hälfte dann doch etwas schneller, um mir einen kleinen Puffer zu erlaufen. Hat tatsächlich auch ganz gut geklappt, denn wie erwartet wurde es ab KM30 teilweise sehr warm. 20° und pralle Sonne bin ich einfach noch nicht gewohnt. Die Stimmung auf und neben der Strecke war mal wieder sensationell und so habe ich bei 3:07:14 die Ziellinie überquert. Mein absolutes Highlight war diesmal aber tatsächlich die Zielverpflegung. Not quite the vacation my family was hoping for. Got the opportunity to see my niece in her gymnastics meet Friday which was awesome. But it went downhill after that. The wife started feeling bad and it lasted all weekend. She stayed in the room which lead me to deal with high energy kids that were being super extra! We eventually went to the ER when the pain got to be to much. I hate we can’t get away from this recent trend. We just can’t keep her on track for more than a few weeks. It is frustrating and exhausting. I got completely beat down but thankfully still managed to have some sunrise runs to keep me holding it together. Hello la Team IG 👋👋, comment allez-vous ? Pour ma part ce matin, j'ai effectué ma rando course dominicale en mode hamsters pour cumuler un max de D+. Quasiment 700 m de D+ au compteur malgré le plat pays du Val d'Oise 🤣. Vivement dans 10 jours pour enfin retrouver les belles montagnes de Chamonix 🏔️ 🗻 et effectuer ma prépa "Choc" 😜🤘 en condition réelle de course 🥳. Très belle fin journée à tous 😘😘.
Trying to tone it this morning for when the rain stopped and before it picks up again, knowing how consistently it rained and how hard it came down also knowing park in patches will be flooded so wanted time for it to dry out a bit at least! In More less the last run till marathon debating weather to go for a Monday lite 5k or not with the running belt still testing with the extra 2 gels in but at the same time I want to get back on fresh legs. Testing with the pouch today went well at the slower pace and less bounding for a smoother ride without it rising up to over my stomach and bellybutton. Last thing I want to do is to find it to constricting bouncing or riding up as well don’t want to take the belt off risk losing a decent bit of kit and having to physically hold carry something while being uncomfortable running a marathon. Faster today than intended but with the Boston 10s rods and light strike foam the quicker pace felt easier as I was also singing bopping along to usher tunes. So nice to see Alex Akom out stretching legs post last weeks London Marathon and Nick Sutcliffe out getting some miles in the tank. Besides it cold breezy and drizzling a nice way to wrap up Milton Keynes marathon training, I’ll be at burgess park run Saturday for a shake out then I jump a train in the afternoon to travel up to MK collect my number find my hotel and set camp for marathon bank holiday Monday. Happy I finally completed the Milton Keynes trip planing completing the last thing yesterday in the train ticket, had hotel booked for a few weeks now and all of a sudden it seems very extremely REAL! Corrida Juventus 100 Anos 🤌🏻🎖 RP na Mooca meu 💥 . Olha eu correndo 10K e não 42K 😁🤪 . Comemoração do centenário do Juventus da minha Mooca 🎶"Que belo time, que belo esquadrão"🎶 . Minha última prova de 10K foi em 2022, no desafio Shogun 82K na Serra do Rio do Rastro. . Desde 2013 foram 20 provas de 10K, com RP (48:44) em 2019 na Corrida Arrastão MPR. Nesta época meu foco ainda não eram as Maratonas. . A largada desta prova é em uma descida, depois alguns falsos planos, voltas e mais voltas num mesmo local (odeio 😡) até voltar novamente pra largada (subida) e completar os 10K. . O percurso não é bonito (zona de galpões industriais) (ainda torço pela volta da Av. Paes de Barros), mas é o que temos no momento. . Novamente testei o corpo, apesar de uns incômodos. . E no final deu um surpreendente RP 💥 Tempo no Garmin: 44:24 . Novamente muito feliz pelo resultado, muito melhor do que eu esperava 🤗 . E deu pra rever muita gente da Mooca que fazia tempo que não via 🥰 . Doido? Maluco? Não! Sou corredor! E de doido, louco, maluco, todo corredor tem e somos extremamente felizes assim!
