Getting diagnosed was just the beginning but what really saved me was finding this community. I kept my baby! Even though I was just 19 when he was born, even though I didn’t know how I would, I kept my baby. Even when everyone told me “kids shouldn’t have kids” or that I’d “ruin my life”, I kept my baby. Even when family turned their heart away from me, and some to this day bring up the multiple ways I've "thrown away my life". I kept my baby. Even when people told me I had other “choices” I kept my baby. I knew some would think bad of me, that I was promiscuous. I knew that girls would talk and boys would listen, But I knew that was a lie anyway. So I kept my baby. It’s not impossible! I knew it would take a lot of trust and big faith when I kept my baby. But when I did, this crazy thing happened. It didn’t even ruin my life. Not in any way. I raised my baby and still to this day I’m chasing my own dreams the best I can, 25 yesrs later. So yes, I’ve done some things the hard way (and I will never regret it because it’s who I have become...!) and I grew up faster than I *had* to...and I’ve struggled along the way. But when I look at my sweet “baby”, a grown man...so loving, tender, supportive, authentic, respectful, thriving, loyal, my "homemade bff"...
