Hear me out👇🏼 I think tracking is an EXTREMELY valuable tool. You absolutely should know how much of something you’re actually putting in your body. ☝🏼HOWEVER... I am so tired of seeing coaches and “health professionals” trying to teach their clients how to consume the foods they love (typically unhealthy foods) as long as they fall in their macros, points, or calorie count WITHOUT further educating them on the potential consequences. Now I’m not saying that you can’t ever enjoy your favorite comfort foods and that you have to stick to chicken and broccoli the rest of your life. I love pizza🍕, french fries🍟, and desserts🧁 just as much as anyone. And having flexibility in your diet is a huge component in helping you to stay compliant. I get that. I value that. I appreciate that. I NEED FLEXIBILITY TOO💯 But as professionals, we are doing our clients a disservice if we do not educate them on how some of their “favorite foods” could be truly affecting their health & healing at a cellular level🧬 If you have a client with #Hashimotos, I don’t believe you should be permitting them to consume gluten🥖, as the gliadin protein in gluten is so molecularly similar to thyroid tissue that it can exacerbate Hashimotos symptoms and worsen their condition. If I have a client struggling with things like bloating, hormonal imbalances, anxiety/depression, you bet your ass I’m going to tell them to avoid gluten, dairy🧀, and sugar🍭 as much as possible since these food sources are known to increase inflammation and gut permeability which is directly tied to their symptoms. The fact is that the inflammatory response within your body can last up to 6 MONTHS📆 from one exposure! So yes, “just a little bit” can have long term effects for many clients and they deserve to be fully educated🙌🏼 Remember, just because we don’t want to hear something... just because we don’t like the FACT, doesn’t make it not true👌 Share to your stories if you feel me on this‼️

🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻 Now consider the additional impact of being a sole parent, shouldering the weight of responsibility alone, while contending with an immature, abusive, absentee counter-parent—absent in EVERY sense of the word; physically, emotionally, mentally, and financially. It’s a common reality that inflicts profound wounds on both the children and the sole parent left to navigate raising their children alone. When a parent creates as much damage as he can before shirking his responsibilities and deliberately neglecting his children, it creates an underlying environment of instability and emotional neglect, even in his absence. This absence, compounded by the trauma of abusive behaviour, leaves lasting wounds on the mental and emotional well-being of both the children and the sole parent (yes…sadly most often the mum). Moreso, the situation worsens when the absentee parent’s behaviour is condoned and ENABLED by his parents and extended family, who set the stage for perpetuating a life cycle of dysfunction within the family dynamic and NEVER being accountable. This not only undermines the efforts of the sole parent but also exacerbates the trauma already inflicted by the absentee parent’s actions. Ultimately though—it’s the children who bear the brunt of his neglect and manipulation, and the neglect by his family. Leaving the children to struggle with long-term consequences that inevitably impact their relationships and self-esteem. Despite this chronic turmoil, the sole parent persists in providing love, support, and nurturing to her children, no matter how angry, resentful and hurt they are at various developmental stages (because the truth is deep wounds come up repeatedly needing repair). She’s steadfast, absorbing much of the painful effects of the absentee parent’s actions, and rarely does society acknowledge her unwavering strength and dedication to her children’s well-being, often to the point of burning out and chronic health, as she continues to navigate the challenges of solo parenting with grace and resilience. How can we as a society better support and uplift the tireless efforts of solo nd moms navigating these hard challenges?

Greek ‘taco’ salad bowl How do I feed my family of 5 real, whole food meals every night? Repeat meals and lots of leftovers. Mon, Tues, and Wed I typically cook the same thing from week to week. I might switch it up by season, but the elements are the same. And I always cook a little extra so we can have leftovers for lunch the next day. This recipe here is on our current rotation. Having ground beef or ground turkey in the fridge is perfect for busy weeknights! Ingredients: 1 lb ground beef Crispy green leaf lettuce 1 red pepper 1 red onion 1 cup cherry tomatoes 3 green onions 1/2 English cucumber 1/2 block feta cheese 1 can of diced tomatoes Dressing options - hummus, tzatziki, olive oil/balsamic vinegar Side options - quinoa, white or brown rice, pita bread Greek seasoning: 2 tsp fine sea salt 2 tsp garlic powder 1 tsp onion powder 1 tsp dried basil 1 tsp oregano 1 tsp parsley 1/2 tsp allspice Directions: Saute ground beef with 2 cups of diced tomatoes and Greek seasoning blend. Drain excess liquid with slotted spoon. Dice veggies and feta and combine into a salad. Serve salad and beef with your favorite healthy grain and dressing in a bowl. Our house often looks like a playground or junkyard, but I really don’t care because my kids play here, outside, everyday, sometimes for hours at a time. I think it’s so sad how often I drive around near neighborhoods and hardly see kids playing outside. I don’t care if, for the next few years, we’re the unkempt house on the street. I also know it’s a phase of life. I’d rather see all these toys in the yard, arts and craft paper laying around the house, dirt on their clothes, than have my kids buried in a screen or laying around everyday. 2017: From Houston, TX, to Hattiesburg, MS, a new beginning. Strangers in a new town, unplanned pregnancy changed everything. A few weeks later we were in Brazil, during our memorable vacation, we learned the news: we were pregnant. We were overjoyed. About 12 weeks later in a trip to Chicago, amidst holiday cheer, Michelle fell ill, but we thought it could have been morning sickness or just food poisoning. In an appointment with the doctor the heartbreaking truth was revealed: no heartbeat 💔. Alone in a town without family and friends, we faced tough decisions. Specialists, consultations, and ultimately, a D&C. The doctor’s reassurance offered little comfort in our grief-stricken state. Physically and emotionally exhausting, Michelle endured the procedure, her recovery lasting over a month. Our baby, a perfect boy, lost to us with no answers. Apparently there was nothing wrong. We took time to heal before trying again. These photos hold significance from that time. Can I share something? No one prepares you for this, and everyone’s reaction is different. 📣 One thing to know about me is that I have a great dislike for most of mainstream wellness and the myths that go along with it. 👎 These myths have not served me well, and I suspect they have not served many others either. ⚖️ Weight does not determine someone’s overall health. 🧁 There is not one size fits all way of eating. All fats are not equal, nor are all proteins or carbs. ‼️ There is more that impacts someone’s overall health than nutrition and exercise. ♾️ Wellness is fluid. It changes.
