In our project the poetic imagery of Tarkovsky and the three mens journey through the zone become a method and inspiration, an artistic and spritual journey on the threshold of image and sound, spirit and matter, on faith, art and life. It might take three hours to make one minute of music. In the video, we experience the borderland in-between the composition process and the finished music. The notes appear in the head of the artist as fragments, gestures are being tried out. We follow the pencil and the thoughts that constitute the act of creation. Could we consider the composition process itself an aesthetic object? JONATAN SERSAM: Sersam’s musical voyage starts in the encounter between rapid, ruthless transformation and acoustic situations that in various ways questions the idea of progression or process. He’s concerned with narration, but not in a programmatic or dramaturgical sense, but the ongoing internal narration within the musical medium. He is experimenting with narrative structures of music, drawing parallels and creating interconnections between contemporary dramatic thinking and the purely abstract flow and musical transformation of sound. Omar Sadik and Uli Eberhardt will demonstrate how musical culture is more than melodic charm or a means of aesthetic pleasure – music has been a way of forging and dismantling divisive identities throughout modernity, and it has simultaneously been a universalizing culture of resistance against identities of division. I recently posted a video on YouTube discussing the numerous complexities of our self-worth - how to sift through it all, gain clarity, move through the limiting belief systems that keep us mired in insecurity and low self-esteem. I continue this conversation in my most recent YouTube video, with a special emphasis on the guilt and shame associated with issues and challenges from our past that continue to haunt us - keeping us trapped in cycles of low sense of self-worth, insecurity, keeping ourselves small. I touch on my own guilt and shame from years of addiction during the earlier part of my life - how those energies have carried with me to the present moment, keeping me stuck, feeling small, insecure, not worthy. Old tapes! Time to kick all of these old patterns of guilt and shame to the curb! Time to leave the past in the past. Time to glean the wisdom of past experiences and leave the rest where it belongs. There is great wisdom in all of our previous experiences and we chose them for a reason, but that does not mean we have to stay stuck in them and let them dictate the quality of our life and our self-worth today. We must move forward in strength, confidence and empowerment. Inspired? Ready to let go of some old crap that is no longer serving you? CONCERTI "SPAZIALI" Quello di due giorni fa presso Paroisse Sainte-Madeleine d'Outremont a Montréal con il @temporealefirenze Reale Electroacoustic Ensemble è stata una delle versioni più emozionanti di "In a large open space" (J. Tenney) a cui abbia partecipato. Quando nel "tutti" Luzio Altobelli ha aperto a tavoletta i registri dell'organo e fatto (letteralmente) vibrare la chiesa è stata un'esperienza tellurica, ancora prima che musicale. Guardando gli occhi degli spettatori (tanti ed entusiasti) ho capito che nel nostro concerto non ci siamo limitati a suonare nello (e con lo) spazio: è stato lui a suonare noi. Over the years I’ve seen and heard people do BEAUTIFUL things with sound in yoga classes. I’ve also seen some total horrors. Sound Spaces: The Art of Bernhard Leitner - Bernhard Leitner, an Austrian architect and innovator is known for being a pioneer in sound spaces/sound-art. One of Leitner’s larger projects includes the “Soundcube” - a 6-sided surround-sound hub rigged up to manipulate several factors of sound which translate into our ears, including: the space of the area sound is played in, the frequency of the sound, the direction of sound, and the sequence in which the sound is played, among others. Slides 3 thru 6 illustrate some examples of how Leitner has turned this concept to reality. Focused on creating structures with sound prominence, Leitner continued his passion in architecture and sound spaces with his 1987 installation, “Le Cyclindre Sonore”, located in Paris, France (slides 7 and 8). The outside structure acts as an amplifier, and bounces sounds from inside the circle out. Furthering Leitner’s resumé, he has constructed a handful of artworks such as: “Sound Chair” (1975) and “Serpentinata” (2004), as well as composed several books on architecture, including: “Sound:Space” (1978), “The Architecture of Ludwig Wittgenstein” (1973) and “Resonances: Aspects of Sound Art” (2003). - Slide 2 clip via “Pioneering Sound Art with Bernhard Leitner” (2018)
