Today is April 19th... In other words... HAPPY BIRTHDAY, ALAN PRICE!! 💙🎹✨️ This year I thought it'd be a whole lot of fun to draw something that I've wanted to put together for a while: Alan with the various instruments he's played over the years!! Counter-clockwise from the top, I drew him with a grand piano, a Vox Continental electric organ, a melodica, a vibraphone, and a bass guitar. Of course, I've drawn him with a Vox a whole lot, along with some other generic electric organs, but not much - if at all - with the others!The bass guitar was the instrument he played when Eric and later John first saw him performing, early on in Animals' history, and you can see him playing it in various photos and the Georgie Fame collaboration in the early-70s! The melodica is also one you don't see often... who knew Alan could play a wind instrument, too?? Of a sort.. it does have a keyboard on it, after all! There's a photo of him at the Scene Club playing it, next to Eric at the microphone (I SOB OVER THAT PHOTO DAILY), and you can hear him playing it on the tracks "Pretty Thing" and "Big Boss Man, on the Animals' first EP. Finally, the vibraphone... ohhh this one meant a lot to me, since I actually used to play mallet instruments as well! The xylophone, the marimba, the bells... I played them all in high school - all except for the vibes 😭 But it's close enough, structurally speaking!! While there isn't any audio of Alan playing it, I'm got written confirmation from Eric and a couple other Animals-fact-charts that Alan indeed can play the vibes! 🥹 VERY VERY COOL. VERY AWESOME. Anyway... eeee obligatory and heartfelt "Alan Price and his music and his silliness and his contribution to Animals' history mean the world to me and he changed my life for the better and I CAN'T STOP REITERATING THIS"... And I also hope he has a wonderful birthday!! Single aufgenommen, wurde sie 1965 ein internationaler Hit. Ihre schnelle Version ist die Vorlage für die meisten folgenden Covers. Der damals 23 jährige Eric Burdon war vom Original des Songs begeistert: "Es galt nie als Popmaterial, aber irgendwie kam er zu uns und wir haben uns sofort in ihn verliebt."
