I know I’ve been really quiet on all my socials… and this is partly why 🫣 It seemed like a good idea at the time to knock through from the kitchen into the garage and end up with a big kitchen/ diner with utility room and much needed downstairs toilet. It will absolutely be worth it I know. But the mess, the dust, the early mornings, the noise, the cold, having to have a makeshift kitchen in the living room, the constant stream of trades in and out - it’s exhausting 😔 Add to this the stress of trying to support my 82 year old mum to move home from 250 miles away and my own and my partners worsening health issues and it’s easy to feel overwhelmed. This week has felt a tough one and feels like there’s a few more to get through just yet. Between nurses and GP appointments I’ve also got an upcoming abdominal scan at one hospital and Botox through a different hospital, whilst still having oedema and feel I’m pre hemiplegic migraine - Sometimes it all just gets a bit much. With chronic illness such as hemiplegic migraine, you lose every day freedoms which include... 1. Being able to get through the day without needing to stop and rest. - My heart rate goes extremely high and I get very breathless. 2. Not having to prioritise activities based on energy levels. - Low iron = fatigue. 3. Being able to make set future plans. - You don’t know how you’ll be from one day to the next. 4. Not needing to balance the joy of doing something while working out how sick it will make you. 5. Being spontaneous and last minute. 6. Having different options and choices about where you go and what you do. 7. Being able to work and socialise. 8. The ability to go anywhere at anytime. 9. Not needing to compromise on certain areas of your life to enable you to do something else. I haven’t been tracking anything, if I’m honest I’m falling apart a bit at the moment. I have given up putting my calories on nutracheck for now, I will start again either half term or the first week in June. It’s my daughter’s birthday next Sunday, we go on a little holiday the day after, then it’s half term and I am also mid setting up a small bookish business to start next month 🥴 🤯 I simply don’t have the capacity to put weight loss on the agenda at the same time as all that. I need to just pick up food and eat it. I am making the most sensible choices that I can, not overeating and just trying to get through this stressful time 🤣 I will still post what I eat when I remember, breakfast this morning is peanut butter on toast, banana and an iced coffee. Off to Costco later so might get something from there for dinner. 6 months in the new job 😁 loving the work life balance, just done a 7 day stretch of earlies. It’s, as I’ve said before, odd going from remembering nothing after That Thing, then going from feeling like it was - and that’s everything - a million years ago, or yesterday. To go from that…to this. I remember these photos as if they were exactly #OneYearAgo Today, because that’s exactly when they were. Life’s, as I’ve also said before, weird, but - and I’ll say it again - it’s wonderful. Currently, and obviously, I live alone. In a studio apartment. So this’s pretty much my 1st communication of the day - EVERY day - with, let’s call it, “humankind.” So, so, so: . 1) Road construction - yes, ACTUAL road work - in my neighborhood(s). 2) #LightFlare as some new #ArtIsArt was being put up new @BroadWaterLA by a fellow that I asked for permission for this photo. 3) “Hey, person carrying shopping bags on the right side, was it you?!” 4) Oh, she said, “It’s Not Me.” Or did she?! Did SHE?!?! 5) I live somewhere, me’s’z think’s’z. 6) Just over two years ago, I was walkin’ about, and I was trottin’ right by this building, and two people walked out. We started chatting. Part o’ th’ chat? “We just bought this building.” What are you doing with it? “We don’t know, yet.” And, to this day, nothing yet. But, it’s getting cleaned up a bit more lately, so, who knows?
