28 de abril día internacional de los #anfibios #savethefrogday se celebra esta fecha para generar conciencia a la población sobre estos increíbles seres, que por sus caracteristicas físicas suelen ser vulnerables a los cambios en su medio afectando notoriamente sus poblaciones, como es el caso de la de forestación, el cambio de uso de suelo, contaminación de cuerpos de agua y también por enfermedades infecciosas como lo es el hongo Quitridium. En la foto tenemos unos de las ranas más grande que podemos ver en Chiapas, y de la familia craugastoridae, que apesar de estar asociada a cuerpos de agua, no lo requiere para la reproducción, ya que estos suelen tener desarrollo directo es decir no hay metamorfosis, no hay renacuajos que dependan del agua, únicamente los huevos permanecen en la hojarasca donde depende más de la humedad, cuando eclosionan, estas emergen con las característica de una rana adulta pero pequeñas. Oggi, ultimo sabato di aprile, si celebra il Save The Frogs Day, la Giornata internazionale dedicata alla salvaguardia delle rane e degli altri anfibi. Promossa nel 2009 dall’associazione Save The Frogs! per ricordare quanto gli anfibi siano fondamentali per il nostro ecosistema, negli anni è diventata sempre più partecipata tant’è che sono tantissimi gli eventi organizzati in tutto il mondo in occasione di questa giornata. It's 'Save the Frog Day' today! I do love frogs and watching them. My Dad and I used to go out to our garden pond in the spring, in the dark with a torch. We'd attempt our own croaks to the busy courting frogs and they'd all come swimming over to us! Such special memories. Some people find them gross or slimy, they are far from it. ‘Hoppy’ #savethefrogday (30th April). In this #creaturefeature we explore a #frog masquerading as moss, and a tiny #batrachian with a big voice! Photos 1-3: Vietnamese Mossy Frog (Theloderma corticale) The combination of the Vietnamese mossy frog’s green body, black spots, tubercles and spines makes it look like a clump of moss, which it spends a large portion of its time pretending to be. Native to Vietnam, these frogs hide in basins of water found in crevices with only their eyes protruding to keep watch on their surroundings. In addition to camoflage, they can throw their voices up to 10 to 13 feet (3 to 4 meters), making it extremely difficult to find them in the wild. There are 11 species of Theloderma, all found in Southeast Asia. They all have bumpy skin and some sort of cryptic coloration. Other members of this group are brown and look like bark, and another species, the warty tree frog, looks like bird poop. Photos 4-6: Spring Peeper (Pseudacris crucifer) The Spring Peeper is a small woodland frog with a loud, high-pitched call that dominates many wetland areas in the Adirondacks in the spring. They belong to a group of frogs known as “chorus frogs”, and live in the eastern half of North America, from northern Florida up into Canada. There are also Western and boreal chorus frogs that have a range spanning between Ohio and Arizona, and north into central Canada. #lovefrogs? Questa cosa delle giornate internazionali ci ha preso un po' la mano e quest'anno si sono praticamente raddoppiate. Ce ne sono davvero di assurde e noi che cerchiamo sempre qualcosa da condividere sui social stiamo dietro a tante assurdità. Non ce ne vogliano le rane se questa affermazione la facciamo proprio nella giornata mondiale a loro dedicata, perché il #SavetheFrogDay in realtà serve a ricordarci, o a farci scoprire, che alcune specie di questi anfibi sono a rischio di estinzione a causa delle nostre pessime abitudini che spesso non sono del tutto a salvaguardia dell'ambiente, anzi a volte non lo sono per niente. Il 28 aprile è la Giornata Internazionale per la salvaguardia delle Rane, gli anfibi più conosciuti al mondo! La giornata nasce per sensibilizzare le coscienze su ciò che sta succedendo a questi splendidi animali. Sapevi infatti che circa 150 specie sono già scomparse e molte altre sono a rischio di estinzione? L'eccessivo inquinamento, la distruzione del loro habitat naturale e l'invasione di esso da parte di animali non autoctoni ne stanno causando sempre più la scomparsa. April is the Leuser Ecosystem month! And today is #SaveTheFrogs day! Did you know? The #LeuserEcosystem on Sumatra island, Indonesia is a vast area of forest and is home to over 105 mammal species, 382 bird species, and 95 reptile and amphibian species. Between 1950-2013, nearly half of Indonesia's forests were cleared, reducing overall forest cover in the country from 162 million to 82 million hectares. Forests were destroyed for timber, palm oil or pulp and paper products, or by farmers expanding their agricultural land. Canopy works with Indonesian Nonprofit Organizations to protect this rich biodiversity. We partner with forest industry’s biggest customers and their suppliers to develop business solutions that protect these last frontier forests and all of the animals in them. Happy Save the Frog Day! The Anaimalai Flying Frog (Rhacophorus pseudomalabaricus) is a native to the Anaimalai Hills of Tamil Nadu and Kerala states, India. Like other flying species, this highly arboreal amphibian is able to extend the webbing between its digits on its feet to essentially glide as it leaps though the air similar to how a flying squirrel or person in a windsuit does. Populations of this rare species of frog are in serious decline and the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species list the species as Critically Endangered. ❤️🐾Kermit🐾❤️ Das ist Kermit... unser Frosch❤️. Kermit ist natürlich auch ein Tierschutzkind unserer Familie. Er wurde von blöden Menschen angeschafft, die irgendwann keinen Bock mehr auf ihn hatten. Unser Frauchen hat ja einen "Riecher" für sowas.... also hat sie ihn vor ca. 4 Jahren von diesen blöden Menschen übernommen. Kermit hat leider auch nur 3 Beine... also passt er sehr gut zu uns😉.
