Partly a reflection on the mood and themes behind @c.l.deak’s music, the oceanic rise and fall of the compositions, the feeling of being absorbed by waves, absolved, erased. Also, we pulled inspiration from the Italian Baroque painter Artemisia Gentileschi and well as more modern artists like João Ruas, Kris Mort and Denis Forkas Kostromitin. Most of the initial art concepts were formulated during long conversations with AI art generators, then further collaged, colored, and digitally redrawn and shaded in most instances. Interestingly we did a lot this work back when AI had no idea how to make fingers or hands, where the attach what body part, etc. The initial first few months of AI art generators, the results felt much more artistic and magical than they do today, with everything being far more surgical and leaning too much towards realism. Heute wäre der 364. Geburtstag des bedeutenden italienischen Komponisten. 1672 als Zwölfjähriger kam er nach Rom und lernte das vielfältige Musikerleben kennen. 1678 erhielt Scarlatti seine erste Kapellmeisterstelle. Danach in Neapel, avancierte Scarlatti zur dominierenden Figur der dortigen Musikszene als der Hauptmeister der sog. „Neapolitanischen Schule und Neapel zum wichtigsten Opernzetrum Italiens. Zahlreiche Musiker wie Arcangelo Corelli, reisten zu Scarlatti, um bei ihm zu studieren. Auch Händel war während seines Aufenthaltes in Neapel 1757 von Scarlattis Schaffen beeindruckt. Mit dem spanischen Erbfolgekrieg wurde seine Stelle beim spanischen Vizekönig aufgelöst. So reiste er zunächst mit seinem Sohn Domenico weiter nach Florenz und kehrte danach nach Rom zurück. Scarlatti schuf die „italienische“ Ouvertüre (schnell – langsam – schnell), die zur Grundlage der klassischen Sinfonie wurde. Auch der da-capo-Arie gab er mit einem freieren Orchestersatz, anstelle der einfachen, Cembalo-gestützten Begleitung ihre endgültige Prägung. Zudem war Scarlatti ein Vielschreiber und hinterließ über 1‘000 Werke.

Entre 2008 et 2010, elle a brillé en tant que continuiste solo pour Le Concert d’Astrée sous la direction d'Emmanuelle Haïm. En tant que chambriste, elle est membre de l'Ensemble Fragonard, réputé pour ses performances sur instruments d'époque. It’s incredible how much I have learned from Paul and it’s bittersweet that it’s all coming to an end. I don’t have perfect pitch. But there comes a magic moment in learning a piece when my body remembers how it feels to make that first sung note. If I quiet myself and let my mind, memory, and body work together, it is there. Now, after months of concentrated work, I can sing that first note, then walk to the piano to check the ‘G’, and usually find that it is right. The rest of the melody is a choreography of muscle and memory flowing together, like ballet, something that I find almost miraculous when it works.
