Is there ever a non-busy season of life? If there is, I havenโt found it yet! As my kids get older life seems to become more and more busy. So how do you get to the gym with 100 things on your to do list? 1)Schedule it. Write it down and make it a non-negotiable. 2)Make it happen earlier than later. Motivation, energy, and overall desire to workout can fade as the day goes on. If you hope to train at some point during the day but didnโt plan exactly when, youโre leaving it to chance. 3)Change your mindset. If youโre not excited to do it, you probably wont. Donโt make exercise a chore- youโve probably got enough to do on any given day. Think of exercise as a break from the boring things on your to do list. 4)Remember your why. Find a specific reason as to why youโre embarking on your health and fitness journey. If itโs not personal to you and it is because your spouse or friends want you to xyz, it wonโt be as lasting. The Lord gave me so many opportunities to embrace the tension between calm & chaos this week. ๐ค By embracing the tensionโinstead of fighting itโit helped me to grow in wisdom and mental fortitude ๐ช๐ผand gave rise to living in fullness of joy rather than overwhelm. ๐๐ผ By living within the tension, it allowed me to exercise my spiritual muscles and safeguard my heart from any strongholds seeking to grab a foothold. While I wouldn't trade that kind of a workout for anything, I am happy the challenges & many calls for my time & attention have subsided a bit. As this week draws to a close, I am reminded of my word for 2024: courageous. So I was thinking ... what does being courageous look like in the everyday, in the mundane, in the moment? โข Maybe it looks like speaking up when you're not sure how others will respond. โข Maybe it looks like giving a presentation at work, or church, or at a benefit event. โข It might even look like standing up for yourself, your values, and your beliefs. I don't have all the answers for every scenario but one thing I know, when life presents opportunities to be courageous ... for those who struggle with willingness to respond fearlessly because of the anxiety and worry that rises within them ... when we get out of our comfort zone, when we are willing to be stretched, when we seek wisdom & guidance to act, we can trust the word of God that says: "Be strong and courageous, and do the work. Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the LORD God is with you. He will not fail you or forsake you..." These truths refresh the soul like nothing else. They gives rise to the ability to stand firm, to be a person of courage, to keep the faith; to be strong, to act, to speak. Call to Him. He is faithful.
