In recognition of the Earth Day, we made a special storybook for Eli and his magical tree. The story is about a 5 year old boy named Eli who notices a delicate tree in his backyard that was dying due to lack of care. He decided to replant the tree and made it a point to water the tree every day and give it all the care it needed. Everyday after school, Eli would visit the tree and tell it all about his day. He would often say to tree, “grow baby grow.” Until one day, the tree magically blossomed into a big giant tree in response to Eli’s call. As it’s caesarean awareness month I thought I’d share a little about my own experience as I know I was very unprepared… I never planned to have caesarean but ended up with a category 1 emergency c section. It was such scary situation and I had to completely put both my son’s and my own life in the hands of people I’d never met before. I’d had no prep or talking through what happens during the procedure. It was all such a rush and a blur. I remember the faces looking down at me as I was sedated and then nothing… Until I woke up hours later struggling to comprehend what had happened and that my little boy had been born safely. It was only the next day when I asked the nurse why my voice sounded so croaky that I even considered I’d been intubated. I thought you might like to read Ben’s story, which was recently shared on Facebook by the team who looked after him… 💜 Ben’s Winchester Neonatal Story 😊🎓 Ben was born at 27+1 weeks in July 2018 and was cared for by the team at Royal Hampshire County Hospital, we’ll be forever grateful. Ben spent 65 days there in the end and came home at 36+3 weeks old. I remember looking at Ben when he was born, feeling so scared and worrying about how he would grow to be ok. Ben has grown to show me I was silly to worry so much. Of course we’ve had our ups and downs, Ben had RSV at 6 months old and illnesses have seemed to affect him a lot over the years. But he’s now a very happy football loving 5 year old. He started school in September 2022. For a while I was certain we’d delay his start to school, so he’d start in the school year he should have been born in. In the end though, that didn’t feel right and Ben started school in his birth year. He’s done so well, he’s happy, with a great group of friends and he’s on track with his key learning goals so far. We’re so very proud of how far he’s come and hope his story can help show how amazingly well our preemies can grow. For anyone who’d like to know, I’m the Mummy who wrote By The Time You Came Home , which I wrote to help Ben learn about his start in life. I ended up publishing it for others to share too. There’s a dedication in the book to the team at Royal Hampshire County Hospital for helping Ben become who he is today. REVIEW ALERT!! 🤩 "Gordana Koljuskov is an experienced hairstylist, having spent over twenty years in the profession. She spent most of those years as a children's hairdresser. So, it follows that she must have come across so many children with different attitudes toward having a haircut. She has decided to make a children's story out of this with the help of her daughter, Neda Koljuskov. Gordana has done a great job creating a very skillful, kind, and friendly character like herself and creating a perfect character that depicts most children's attitudes towards haircuts. The hairdresser's approaches are simple and powerful, and I did appreciate how those helped address Timmy's concerns. I found Timmy's character realistic. He has valid reasons to be scared, and most children his age would act the same. There is a short note at the end of the story that would help parents get their children to feel safe and comfortable enough for a haircut. The illustrations are amazing. The attention paid to the editing is commendable. I didn't find any grammatical errors in the book. There is nothing that I disliked in this book, and given the aforementioned merits, I rate it five out of five stars. "My Trip to the Hair Salon" is recommended for every child who gets scared or feels uncomfortable whenever it's time to have their haircut. REVIEW ALERT!! 🤩 "Must read 🏆 After reading the story, kids who once feared getting a haircut might surprise their parents & ask to go to a hair salon like Timmy's! Timmy awakens with enthusiasm. Why? It's his best friend's birthday, and she's having a big party with all her classmates! Timmy is noticeably excited about picking out a present for the party; however, he's less than enthusiastic about stopping at a salon for a haircut. Even though Timmy doesn't feel he needs his hair trimmed, his shaggy mane blinds him, causing a collision with his adorable canine companion, Buster. So, off to the salon they go! The chairs and the cartoons were a great distraction, but they didn't eradicate all Timmy's fears. Soon, he remembered why he was there. The snipping of the scissors and the buzzing clipper can scare little kids. It sure did for Timmy. Even though the salon had all the fancy bells and whistles, I loved how the writer demonstrated the importance of a patient, friendly hairdresser. Dear Oliver I had so much fun watching you work in your little play kitchen after you got home from daycare yesterday. You were very kind to make your Momma so many cups of coffee and I could tell that she really enjoyed every one of them as she sat on the floor holding Baby Adelaide and trying to play with Baxter your dog because she wanted to play too. I can see that you are a good cook because you got all of your play fruit and vegetables ready to eat and you then you cleaned up everything in your little sink. I wish I could have been there with you but at least I get to see you on FaceTime. I am also glad that you like the storybook that I made for you about the jellyfish and their friends who live under the sea. It is nice to know that you like books because Meemee likes them too.
