The card for today is the Five of Pentacles which speaks of recovery, acceptance, and relief. Desecration is the watchword of the Five of Pentacles. Something that is weighing on me so heavily this past week from recent events. And this popped up on my memories today! When I became a real estate agent and looking into investing this is something I weigh on heavily because who I am, where we were raised, our roots, our ʻohana, and the respect of other ʻohana comes before money. This is My Grandpa Nelson Haʻo Hale in Puʻuanahulu. ❤️. E kala mai I donʻt remember the artist who painted this for one of my Uncleʻs. This is where my Mom and her siblings grew up, this is where my cousins and I grew up. I wish our keiki knew this place, but they can’t, why? Because of greedy developers. Where is it now? Gone. This is the reality of a lot of ʻohana that lost their land and their homes because developers get greedy. Now what do we have? We have kuleana. Our kuleana now is to take care of the ʻohana, that no longer are with us but still remain on the land. My cousin @debkairay who spent over 30 yrs of her life protecting the manaʻo that was passed down to her by our Grandpa, her Mom and Dad, along with our kupuna, Aunties, and uncles, and have done the work and research and have made sure it was brought to the State, to the Burial Council, etc. Set everything in motion and documented. Till this day, the developers who are local and foreign, the owners, the people that take on the work to clear the land still don’t even take the time to learn, to educate themselves on what they are desecrating. Part of it is the States fault, but it comes down to this, there is no price that you can put on history, there is no going back once something is desecrated. A Sweden-based Iraqi refugee, who caused international outrage by repeatedly desecrating the Qur’an last year, has been apprehended in Norway and is set to be deported back to Sweden. Salwan Momika, an Iraqi refugee who desecrated copies of the Holy Qur’an during numerous protests in Sweden throughout last year, was arrested in Norway on March 28th, a day after he arrived in the Nordic country, according to a ruling by the Oslo district court. Earlier, he had announced his intention to seek asylum in Norway after a Swedish court ruled that the extremist would be deported from the country. Following a hearing held on March 30th, the Oslo District Court ruled to detain Momika for four weeks, pending a probable request from the Norwegian Directorate of Immigration (UDI) to Sweden for his return, as per EU regulations. This is the first concert I ever played in. This was in 1985 at Ruthie's Inn in Berkeley on San Pablo Avenue. We got the show through Possessed that I and half of Desecration went to high school with in Pinole. They had just started as well. I used to go to their manager's house which was up the street from school almost every day to watch them practice. Sacrilege was a great East Bay metal band. I remember this show well and I loved Ruthie's Inn. Before Gilman Ruthie's was where I was at almost every weekend. There was a liquor store down the street where we got drinks and Big O Tires which is still across the street was where everyone hung out. These are some pictures of my start in music playing with the Metal band Desecration at Ruthie's Inn in Berkeley. I don't remember the year but I would take a guess that it's 1986. Picture 1 left to right is me on bass, Juan on drums even though you can only see the top of his head and Bob on vocals. Bob is another person that is no longer with us. Picture 2 is Dan on guitar, me on bass, Juan on drums, Bob singing and Ray on guitar. Dan has also passed. I look at this picture and here he is in 11th grade in Pinole Valley High School and he has a full Marshall stack and he's playing a concert.
