Not so serious movie review: Shinobi: The Law of Shinobi (2004) Back in the day, Shinobi was a video game, kinda like Kung-Fu, but with more ninjas. This movie isn't based on the video game, although it might have been better if it was. Shinobi are the lower class foot soldiers of samurai. They are assassins and swordsmen trained to kill or be killed. They love to run around in forests. No lie, 80% of the movie is the woods. Shinobi are also as cliquey as high schoolers. Kagerou is the best shinobi so of course no one likes him except his bestie, Aoi. She is part badass and part damsel in distress. Very confusing. They fight the bad guys, a dude gets impaled by a log, another guy gets gutted like a rabbit, and our heroes run around in the woods. Looking forward to Shinobi 2: In the Woods Again. Demon Dolls- Horrorscope Films A Todd Jason Cook classic piece of cinema right here. This movie really had some kind of special DIY charm to it that made me enjoy it way more than I should’ve. All the horror poster and memorabilia in Todd’s room is absolutely insane!! The plug of his own movies playing in the background and the incredible music video at the end. It’s a killer whale #SoundtrackSunday Orca (also known as Orca: The Killer Whale) is a 1977 American thriller film directed by Michael Anderson and produced by Dino De Laurentiis, with a #filmscore by Ennio Morricone. Basically a male orca is tracking down and getting revenge on a fishing boat and its captain for killing the whale’s pregnant mate and their unborn calf. It did ok at the box office but got criticized for being a Jaws rip off, from which it certainly drew inspiration. I was 10 when it came out and didn’t see it in theaters, but always thought the theme music was so sad. I somehow missed seeing this album on Record Store Day, but went back to @blockstreetrecords and grabbed it when they posted they still had it. This is the first real vinyl release in the US of this soundtrack. It had a Japanese vinyl pressing in 1977 and a CD reissue in the 1990s. Very happy to have it in my collection…. Now I must find the paperback novel that @thevinylwhores posted with their copy last week! . L.A. Bounty (1989) Wings Hauser is a schizophrenic Drug Lord who has kidnapped the Mayoral candidate. Sybil Danning is an ex-cop bounty hunter in mom jeans who's after him for killing her old partner. Directed by Worth Keeter, a man who gave us several bad to just okay films in the 80s and 90s then transitioned to Power Rangers episodes. Sybil Danning wrote and stated in this, so close to the black tanktop triple threat. He character has almost no lines and she's doing her best Clint Eastwood impression throughout. Wings is chewing the scenery every chance he gets. His choices in playing the drug lord are insane and almost worth watching this for alone. I'll give Keeter some credit, this looks like a real movie. There's some really good lighting, shots, and locations used. The action is ridiculous, Cybil's weapon of choice is a huge shotgun. She can hit people with it from a distance with sniper accuracy and they always fly back about 10 feet. There also some quality stunt and practical effects work on display. Plus everyone other than Wings is taking this seriously and are all professional actors, no great performances but solid nonetheless. Unfortunately the pacing is terrible, Sybil's stoic silent thing doesn't work, the plot doesn't make much sense, and I was bored whenever there wasn't an action scene or Wings on screen. Bloodletting (1997) es una película lanzada directamente al mercado del vídeo doméstico que gozó de bastante buena acogida en su momento. Antes que nada, advertir que estamos delante de una de esas producciones de Serie Z baratas que no debe tomarse en serio en ningún momento y cuya calidad recuerda a los filmes de realizadores del estilo de J.R. Bookwalter o similares. Sorprendentemente, la trama está muy bien escrita y eso es porque detrás de la dirección encontramos al guionista Matthew Jason Walsh (colaborador habitual del prólifico filmmaker David DeCoteau) que aquí nos cuenta como una chica decide exponerse ante un asesino en serie para aprender de él. Esta pasará a ser de una víctima potencial a otra psicópata peligrosa. El mejor momento de la película es sin duda cuando ambos salen a matar y se disfrazan de miembros de la iglesia. I was looking for something to watch and this was at the top of my suggestions on Tubi. Initially, my expectations weren't high, but I got to tell you, this movie was actually a lot of fun. The music is absolutely amazing, there is a plot, and I really liked the characters (even though the acting could be absolutely atrocious at times (they don't even try to cover up when the actors are reading their lines)). I also really liked the set design and the fact that it was set in a very gritty New York in the mid-90s. Honestly, if you want something light and quirky to watch, I suggest this movie. One of my favorite B-movies from the fifties: "Teenagers from Outer Space" (a.k.a. The Gargon Terror (UK title), The Boy from Outer Space, and originally titled The Ray Gun Terror) is a 1959 American independent film released by Warner Bros. The film became a cult classic among science fiction fans over the years. 👉🏼 One notable aspect of the film is that it was largely the work of a single person, Tom Graeff, who, in addition to playing the role of reporter Joe Rogers, wrote, directed, edited and produced the film, on which he also provided cinematography, special effects and music coordination. 📌 The digipack edition I have is from 2007 and was published by L'Atelier 13.

Nel cast oltre a una fantastica e poco vestita Sydney Sweeney, ci sono anche Tom Arnold che fa il porta bandiera degli idioti e con Sean Astin che anche il suo personaggio a idiozia non scherza. In his crimes-against-nature experiments, Dr. Eric Zinthrop (Michael Mark) has extracted an enzyme from the queen wasp’s royal jelly to create a compound that seemingly possesses miraculous rejuvenating powers. Has Zinthrop discovered the fountain of youth? The results on animals speak for themselves. See that mature Doberman pinscher next to a frisky puppy? They are the exact same age! Meanwhile, Janice Starlin (a fraught, riveting Susan Cabot giving the performance of her life) is addressing the board of her cosmetics firm Janice Starlin Enterprises. The forecast is gloomy: “As you can see, gentlemen – sales from the last fiscal quarter have dropped.” Thrusting Brylcreemed young exec Bill Lane (Fred Eisley) speaks up to drop a truth bomb: the decline rests squarely with Janice herself. For the past 16 years it’s been her lovely face gracing the packaging. Now that she’s been replaced by a model the consumers feel cheated. So, the brand’s success is dependent on her image, but time has marched on and there’s no way Janice – who’s hit haggard middle age and sports severe horn-rimmed spectacles and a dowdy coiffure - could be a spokesmodel now. “Not even Janice Starlin can remain a glamour girl forever,” she ruefully admits. Or as Lane bitchily opines behind her back later: “Janice Starlin has built her whole life on youth and beauty. Now that she’s losing them, she’s scared to death!” Just then, Zinthrop arrives in reception to see Janice. Despite her colleagues’ protestations that he’s a quack, Janice is impressed (his magical formula could earn her millions!) and she agrees to proceed. But there’s a problem: Zinthrop’s serum has never been tested on humans. With all-advised nonchalance, Janice volunteers to be his guinea pig … Of course it's too good to be true and Janice begins transforming into a ravenous she-monster.
