I got the adults portion not thinking that I’m in America which means a portion size that would normally feed 2 back in the UK 😂 But I finished all but 3 of my potato barrels! I had breakfast today at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge with @gfree4t and her daughters. If you have a special diet, eating at a restaurant like Boma, an all you care to eat buffet experience, is still a possibility. We talked to a chef and asked for food from the kitchen. Their waffles with pecan praline sauce are some of the best Mickey waffles at Walt Disney World.

M-I-C-K-E-Y W-A-F-F-L-E-S There are a bunch of locations at @waltdisneyworld that have allergy safe, gluten free Mickey waffles, but these were from my breakfast at Trattoria al Forno. I love how Disney is so allergy safe and accommodating. When I said I was gluten free my waitress said “easy peasy”. I got some waffles and a a side of potatoes for a carb-y meal before a day at Animal Kingdom. Trattoria al Forno is right on Disney’s Boardwalk which was super close to my hotel and a super cool spot. Oh, and the waffles were INCREDIBLY fluffy and delicious. This morning, my family had breakfast at @rosamexicano at the @swandolphin at Walt Disney World. I had their amazing gluten free Mickey churro waffles with a side of bacon, and my family had churro waffles and huevos rancheros. We will definitely be back over Thanksgiving Break. We parked at Disney’s Hollywood Studios and walked over. Rosa Mexicano does not accept reservations for breakfast.
Alright, I know I say it every week….but this is my new favorite breakfast on property! Rosa Mexicano is at Disney’s Dolphin resort and offered breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Breakfast and lunch are walk-in only, but dinner reservations are available through MDE. I had gluten free churro Mickey waffles. The waffles came with whipped cream and Mexican chocolate. This was my dream breakfast because it’s sugar on top of more sugar 🥰. Bianca, our resident potato expert, went for the more sensible breakfast option. She ordered Eggs Your Way and was offered gluten free toast with her meal. We were so happy and can’t wait to try dinner next! We're on a Mickey waffle kick lately! Brandon and I recently went to Rix Sports Bar & Grill for breakfast. Last month I sailed on the Disney Wonder, and had an amazing experience 💫🚢 My top tips for eating gluten free on the Disney Wonder: - Let Disney Cruise Line know of your dietary requirements in advance & on the first night let your server know of your dietary requirements. - At dinner each night you can pre-order your meal for the next evening (you can access the menus for each night on the app). If you pre-order they can usually modify any of the dishes available to suit your dietary needs. TIP: if there is something you ordered a previous night that you LOVED & would like to have again on a different night, let your server know and they may be able to serve it to you again. - Mickey Bars are gluten free! You can order them via room service. - Popcorn is gluten free. You can purchase a popcorn bucket, and then subsequently you can get unlimited refills for a small fee. - Cabanas (breakfast & lunch)- Find a head server to order your meal. They will be able to advise which food items can be made gluten free. You can also pre-order your meals with your server at dinner, and then all you have to do is find a head server in Cabanas & let them know that you have pre-ordered your meal. Let them know where you are sitting & they will bring your meal to you. My go to’s at Cabanas were Mickey waffles for breakfast & chicken tenders/chips for lunch - Pinocchio’s Pizzeria - Gluten Free Pizza can be made upon request. - Daisy’s De-Lites - Gluten Free sandwiches can be made upon request. - Pete’s Boiler Bites - Gluten Free hotdogs & burgers can be made upon request. - Eye Scream - The soft serve ice cream is gluten free & there are gluten free waffle cones available upon request. Overall, Disney is very careful about dietary requirements/allergies. I would highly recommend sailing with the @disneycruiseline if you require gluten free food. The cruise was also so much fun! There are so many great gluten free options at Boma at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge. We shared Mickey waffles with pecan praline sauce, bacon, sausage, plantains, tots, and bobotie. I also had avocado-papaya-grapefruit salad, a cheese omelet, and scrambled eggs with spinach, feta, and tomato. They have @udisglutenfree muffins and bagels available. Boma is one of my favorite breakfast spots at Walt Disney World.

They are all a must follow if you're going to Disney with any allergies (not just to gluten)! So here's the details on my gluten free gastro adventure in Disney World 😂 Breakfast at the hotel: Gluten free waffle platter! The staff and chef at Sassagoula Float works were great. A mickey waffle that can be made GF is extra magical ✨ The Boathouse in Disney Springs is a MUST! The crab cakes are well known for being outstanding and lived up to the hype. The staff was very helpful and knowledgeable! Erin McKenna's Bakery is a vegan and gluten free bakery that's out of this world yummy! We bought so much but I went with the cinnamon roll first 😉 Woody's Lunchbox in Hollywood Studios was a hit! It's easy to mobile order and was so good that we ate there twice! Gluten free grilled cheese, tomato soup and tots for the win! I got the kid's meal one day when I wanted a lighter meal and it was perfect. Oh, Epcot! You never disappoint! First stop was France for a macaron and then sorbet. Then I took advantage of the Flower and Guardian food booths and snagged seared scallops! Yum! We dined family style with the princesses at the Royal Banquet Hall in Norway. Another great experience with staff being accommodating. Most of the food was gluten free as is and I got a special side of GF mac and cheese! This was one of my top experiences between the food and princesses. It was worth the pretty penny in my opinion. Magic Kingdom was home to one of my favorite gluten free pizzas at Pinocchio Village Haus. The margarita pizza is so yummy that I ate it both days we were in MK. We went to the dinner buffet at Crystal Palace to meet Pooh and friends. While the characters were fun and the server was nice, this is one spot I'd definitely skip next time. But I saved the best thing I ate for last... Gluten Free Beignets! We absolutely loved our time at Port Orleans French Quarter and this was one of the reasons why! If you've read this far, thank you! When I sail concierge with @disneycruiseline, I like to eat breakfast in the concierge lounge. On our cruise last weekend on the Disney Wish, I ate pancakes, Mickey churro waffles, and a smoothie and a breakfast sandwich with egg & bacon on our last day. The pancakes were my favorite.
I was so excited to order the Steakhouse 71 Feast this morning at Steakhouse 71 at Disney’s Contemporary Resort, but it is no longer on the menu. I decided to order Mickey waffles with bacon and a side of blueberry compote, and I never pass up a chance to have their amazing bacon and cheddar grits. My friend Sarah from @glutenfreedairyfreedisney was able to order a side of two Mickey waffles for $5.00. They can make their avocado toast on gluten free bread. I highly recommend it!

It does cost an additional fee, but we feel it's totally worth it for the quality of food and the special diets options. ✅ This is a photo from our sailing on the Disney Magic in January 2022. Makahiki @disneyaulani offers a delicious preset three course character breakfast starting with fresh fruit and an assortment of pastries, followed by your choice of menu entree. I was served with a basket of yummy mini gluten-free muffins; cranberry orange and double chocolate. I ordered the gluten-free Mickey waffles with berries and cream and side of bacon as my entree. The waffles were delicious! 😋 This is the only dining location on property that I’ve found gluten-free Mickey waffles available . I asked about gluten-free pancakes, but they were not available. Most menu options could be made gluten-free. As always, Disney cast members are well versed in gluten-free options and food allergies. Reservations are recommended. We had breathtaking views, great service and a delicious feast. My brunch started with a mimosa and an amazing Mickey waffle with strawberries and cream, followed by their housemaid gluten-free bread, and then pasta with salmon in a cream sauce. Saturday, I had brunch at Cape May Cafe at Disney’s Beach Club Resort with my friends @snorris49 from @glutenfreedairyfreedisney and Christy from @packyourpixiedust. Chef Matthew made it a magical experience! My favorite waffle toppings were the creme anglaise and whipped cream with pop rocks.
Allergy-friendly Mickey waffles from Cape May Cafe were made even more magical with a table-side toppings platter. At the Royal Palace on the Disney Dream, I had pancakes and waffles for breakfast on our Castaway Cay day. I am not sure what mix they are using, but they were better than the GF waffles and pancakes I have had at @waltdisneyworld. I preordered them the night before with my head server.

I had a great breakfast at Ale & Compass at Disney’s Yacht Club Resort this morning. I had Mickey waffles with bacon and the toppings from the chocolate waffles, which they cannot make gluten free. Ale & Compass is using @bloomfieldfarms waffle mix.
When in doubt ask a chef! 2 years ago I made the mistake to not ask what type of #glutenfreeflour was used in the #glutenfreewaffles . Soy flour was in the mix and I had such discomfort and bloating, I learned my lesson. Now, if there’s bread, I ask. This morning I used @lyft to hop on over to the @waltdisneyworld #disneyscarribeanbeachresort to get our #glutenfreemickeywaffles . I strongly encourage using the mobile order ahead feature. My food was ready when I arrived. I have the #disneyworld app on my phone so it’s very easy. You can also login in from a browser. The menus are available online so you can see what is offered on the allergy menu. My only suggestion is to be able to have notes. Last night, we had chicken and Mickey waffles with pecan butter and maple syrup, and french fries for dinner at Roaring Fork, a quick service restaurant at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge. The waffles were the best gluten free waffles I have had at Disney World in years, and the pecan butter is one of my new favorite waffle toppings. I mobile ordered our food in the My Disney Experience app.

This morning, we made Mickey churro waffles in our @selectbrands Mickey flip waffle maker. Just add a little cinnamon to your favorite waffle mix, brush the waffles with melted butter, then dip them in cinnamon sugar. I use @josiesbestgf waffle mix, which I order from their website. It is top 8 free, and made in a dedicated gluten free facility. My whole family loves it. Directions: Add 1 tsp cinnamon to the batter - double batch (2 C dry mix made with melted unsalted butter instead of oil). Brush waffles with melted salted butter, then dip them in a cinnamon sugar mixture (1/4 C sugar, 2 1/2 tsp cinnamon). Serve with banana slices.

I started the meal with a delicious mimosa 🧡 I then inquired about the gluten free Mickey waffles, because I had read online that they had them but they were not included on the current abbreviated allergy-friendly menu. However, they told me they had them and I could absolutely order them. I. LOVE. MICKEY. WAFFLES. They are so crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. 🤤 They just taste better than any ordinary shaped waffle. And check out the tiny pitcher of maple syrup! Too cute!
