The Lake District…It without a doubt surprised me in the bestest way. I hadn’t been since I was three years old and so my memories of the area were extremely vague. All I can remember were the sheep on the nearby farm where we were staying. Returning 23 years later….its fair to say it’s somewhere I can’t wait to return to; and hopefully next time I won’t leave it so long! Must Visit Towns & Villages ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 🔸 Keswick - Such a beautiful town with a wide variety of shops and I personally found it not to be too crazily busy in off peak season. This was easily my favourite town out of all of them in the Lake District. 🔸Bowness-On-Windermere - It has to be seen as this is quite possibly the most popular resort of the Lake District and has a lot of things to do here including the world famous Beatrix Potter Museum. Honestly though…it was my least favourite place due to how touristy and crowded it was (even in off peak!) 🔸Ambleside - A lovely town with a large selection of shops and sights to see. The bridge house (see 1st slide) is particularly unique. 🔸Hawkshead - Home of William Wordsworth’s Grammar School and a beautiful array of gift and specialist souvenir shops. The chocolate factory is equally well worth a visit; even if just for a small pot of melted chocolate 🤤 🔸Grasmere - Home of the famous Gingerbread Shop (you have to visit, it’s the best!), William Wordsworth’s Grave and more beautiful shops! Other things I adored about The Lakes ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 🔹The Herdwick Sheep are the cutest breed of Sheep you will ever see! 🔹There are so many chocolate shops and you will be spoilt for choice. If you like chocolate, the Lake District is your place! 🔹It’s pretty obvious that the Lakes has quite possibly some of the best scenery in the whole of the UK. The higher the lakes you go, the better it gets.
