Happy Friday!!! This week I am excited to talk about @frenchartshop ! Hanna is my hero because she literally gets to paid to shop all day.... in France... for antiques!!! 🤯 Way to go Hanna!! 😎 But in all seriousness, she does it for the love of art. And aren't we all supposed to be figuring out a way to do what we are passionate about and make a career of it? Hanna is an American in Paris, and she and her partner Paul are very knowledgeable about paintings, and cleaning/restoring them as well. And they are always on the hunt, so if you love old art, they are a fantastic resource!! Hanna also takes visitors to Paris and environs on shopping tours to help them navigate the antique markets (and the language barrier!) We were so lucky to spend a day with Hanna last fall at the @pucesdeparissaintouen (last photo) and it was day I will never forget! If you love old art, or really antiques of any kind, you will love following along with Hanna as she sources for clients (and her own online brocantes.) She also shows us great examples how to add art to your home for the beautiful "collected" look we all want! These two love when I pull out different decor items at the start of a new season. 🍂🍁They pretty much think I’ve given them new toys. 😂 Having a three year old and two year old means that the majority of my decorations need to be kid proof😄 Fall is one of my favorite seasons and I have had to avoid the stores to keep from buying all the pumpkins and all the candles! 😍😍 I have to remind myself that we are moving into less than half the space that we currently live in and it is making me really think through my purchases. The other day, I came across a bin full of inexpensive and super adorable fabric pumpkins. I started selecting various sizes and throwing them into my cart. Then I remembered that I had committed to super limiting my spending for the next couple of months as we prepare to pay off our mortgage.... I looked around to see if anyone was watching me, and then I started shoving every pumpkin back in the bin! I felt like (and definitely looked like) a crazy person😂😂😂 Daniel told me that Dave Ramsey would be proud😆 I’ve always thought of myself as a pretty frugal person but this journey has shown me many areas where I needed to scale back. Finalizing the kitchen layout😳 So it was a little trickier than we were initially expecting. We measured and brainstormed for over an hour the other night trying to figure out the best use of the space. What a day!!! We woke the kids up early this morning and headed north to purchase some used kitchen appliances that a friend located for us! We had beautiful weather until the last 1/3 of our trip. A storm came out of no where and poured on the appliances. 🤦🏽♀️ On a happy note, we stopped by the cottage and the sheetrock guys were there🙌🏼🙌🏼 It feels like we are really starting to make progress again! We finally made it home this evening and it started raining as we moved the appliances off of the trailer and into our shop. The day had been stressful so I decided to go ahead and workout in the rain. Happy F R I D A Y! 🌿 We hit the floor running this morning! After a weekend of sickness it is back to the daily grind! Some of you know that literally a couple of days after we signed the construction loan for the cottage, we found out that we were expecting our third baby! We get asked all of the time if we planned it that way and the answer is... umm no😄 God has a sense of humor and our life this year has totally debunked the idea that God will only give you what you can handle😂😂 Learning to navigate this last portion of our debt free journey mostly apart from each other has been challenging. Daniel and I have had many opportunities to learn how to extend #grace to each other. 😉😉 I’m 32wks and the countdown to when this house needs to be complete just got real! A slow day... We’ve come to a point in the building process where we are waiting on a contractor to do the spray-in insulation. The timing couldn’t have been more perfect for this lull because the kids and I came down with a cold. I am one of those people that rarely gets sick but I think being pregnant has caused this to kick my tail. So grateful that Daniel was able to stay home today. I hate being down so I’m praying this passes quickly! I first started really learning about #minimalism almost two years ago. My second child had just been born and we were preparing for another move. I had accumulated a lot of junk. Since the beginning of our marriage, I’ve attempted to keep a tidy house.... I did so by stuffing crap into every available storage area😬😄 I didn’t want stacks of stuff cluttering up our living space so I just filled every drawer and closet to the brim. I am not a naturally organized or minimalist individual (just ask the woman that raised me😄). My journey to a more organized and minimal lifestyle has been slow, but with each change that we’ve made the more I appreciate this new way of life. I love the quote above because it really debunks the idea that most people have about minimalism. It isn’t about living in a empty/bare house (there is nothing wrong with it if you do😉😉) rather, it is about taking the time to discover what is really important to you. I firmly believe the last two years have been preparing me for this move into the cottage. I don’t think I could have wrapped my brain around it a few years ago😅 As I purge our belongings, I’m discovering the things that I truly love and that add joy and meaning to my life. I will be creating a space for my family that reflects what is truly important to us. 💛 The whole purpose behind this move is to be financially free so that we can slow down and enjoy our kids.
