BACK TO BLACK Avril 2024 - 5/10 Il va sans dire que comparé au documentaire bouleversant et inoubliable “Amy” (2015) d’Asif Kapadia (📷9&10), ce biopic sur la “Lioness of Camden” fait pâle figure. Nonobstant: -Si l’on fait, d’une part, abstraction de ce récapitulatif beaucoup trop édulcoré de sa vie fort chaotique, de ses fréquentations malsaines, de ses amours toxiques, de ses addictions et de sa descente aux enfers pour une arrivée finale en juillet 2011 dans le “27 Club”, -Si d’autre part, l’on sait à l’avance qu’on n’apprendra absolument rien sur son génie créatif de compositrice et trop peu sur ses influences saoul et jazzy, -Et enfin si on a plutôt l’impression durant deux heures de voir à l’écran un mix physique “enchoucrouté” de Jill Caplan, d’Élisa Tovati et d’Anamaria Vartolomei, -Alors: on ne boude pas son plaisir à écouter la performance vocale de Marisa Abela. Cette novice, après quatre mois de cours intensifs, parvient à réinterpréter avec un timbre rauque et éraillé plutôt impressionnant nombre de titres majeurs de la diva londonienne (Rehab, Back to Blake, Fuck me pumps, Valerie, Love is a losing game, Me & Mr Jones, etc…). I was 15 when I first saw it - it was put on at school as part of the lower sixth drama festival - and watching it now takes me back to then, and I can remember who played who, and how awed I was by it. It was a considerably shorter production, I might add (this one is four hours not including the interval… ) I saw #JeremyIrons and #LesleyManville do it in 2018 (extraordinarily, JI’s son was in that earlier production - though they didn’t play the same part) and that was glorious too. This one is also with #LaurieKynaston and #DarylMcCormack - also both brilliant - and I was sitting in the front row where the seats are cheap but not uncomfortable and besides, I love being so close… (Incidentally, I tried to book tickets to Sholto to see Macbeth in October. £175 A TICKET and that’s the lowest price available for the whole run. The performances across the board are very good, I loved the dynamic between Amy & her dad, and the use of live performances was a smart move do we as an audience can disassociate from the studio versions. The issues I had with the film was the pacing of the film. It started well, but some parts really dragged on, especially in the middle. The scene where Amy meets Blake drags on for far too long, good scene but slows everything right down. Overall, there’s not a lot to say about this film. It follows the tropes of every music biopic, but the performers are very good, and it captures the time period well. You know you’re getting old when they’re doing biopics of musicians you knew and listened to! It is sad, given Amy’s story, but if you’re a fan I think you’ll be relatively happy. ✨✨✨✨ I loved it. Oh my goodness #LesleyManville is heartbreaking, and I thought #MarisaAbela (who I also loved in Industry) was BRILLIANT, and the singing and the performances are glorious. I saw Amy - the real Amy - only once, and it was at Bestival on the Isle of Wight in 2008 - her last full UK gig - but it wasn’t a good one. She was an hour late, she couldn’t remember the words, she finished early - but still there were utterly extraordinary moments. The film in not totally accurate - and I don’t know how much truth is in the Becky storyline but I do know that Blake was seeing at least one other person between and around Amy, because she was interning at Vogue International, and spent a lot of time sobbing under my desk about Blake going back to Amy. Which is as close as I got to the Camden scene in the mid/ late 00s. But watching this, gosh I wish I’d been hanging out at whichever pub it was she was playing at then, or that I’d been a #RonnieScott regular (though, actually, I mostly recall that whatever it was I was doing was excellent too….) and all I want to do now is listen to her music. Which is what #SamTaylorJohson said she wanted to achieve, so… #BackToBlack #AmyWinehouse ✨✨✨✨

"Back To Black" (2024) ~ Sam Taylor-Johnson 🎬Sceneggiatura: 8/10 🎬Scenografia: 7,5/10 🎬Fotografia: 7,5/10 🎬Costumi/Trucco: 8/10 🎬Colonna sonora: 8,5/10 🎬Cast: 8/10 ⭐️VOTO COMPLESSIVO: 8/10⭐️ Amy viene da una famiglia ebraica della zona nord di Londra: il suo sogno è cantare ed emulare l'amata nonna Cynthia che negli anni '60 aveva calcato importanti palchi internazionali, incontrando le più grandi star del suo tempo. La storia di Amy Winehouse è però molto travagliata, dall'amore malato verso Blake alla bulimia e all'alcolismo. La strada verso il successo è però vertiginosa, arrivando a vincere cinque Grammy Awards nel 2008. 💬È uscito da poco nelle sale l'ennesimo biopic musical, che (mi ripeto) mi risultano sempre molto piacevoli. Il caso di "Back To Black" è però molto particolare: il film si concentra poco sulla carriera dell'artista, ritagliando molto tempo alle questioni private e al processo creativo delle sue canzoni. Per certi versi ho trovato questa pellicola molto simile a "Rocketman": in entrambi i casi il biopic si sposta leggermente verso il musical, con i testi delle canzoni che rimandano a quanto visto poco prima o addirittura, quasi come in un videoclip, alle immagini che scorrono mentre sentiamo il brano stesso. Molto buono il trucco e complimenti assoluti a Marisa Abela che non solo interpreta un Amy Winehouse molto credibile, ma presta anche la voce in molti brani. Sui titoli di coda si sente poi il brano "Song for Amy", scritto e interpretato da Nick Cave proprio per questo film. Una piccola nota personale: a luglio andrò a Londra per la prima volta. Mi è molto piaciuto vedere diverse zone londinesi, da Camden Town allo Zoo di Londra, ma anche negozi, pub e le iconiche fermate della metro. Mi sta salendo di molto l'aspettativa!💬 ❓️Lo avete visto? BACK TO BLACK Another great example of why I don’t listen to the critics anymore. I thought this was brilliant from start to finish. The lead actress was superb and I think they picked the perfect director in Sam Taylor-Johnson, it was pretty clear to me she got the very best out of her actors. I remember the era very well and did see Amy live once ( she was faultless). I felt they got the era spot on, it definitely bought back memories. I don’t think I appreciated her songs back then, the film though goes into a bit of depth on what the songs meant and that was very important for the film. It’s a music biopic and the music shines through as it should,I felt this had a bit more to it as a story though and I found it very captivating to watch. Amy certainly didn’t come across as likeable through a lot of the film despite her genius, by the end I could really relate to her struggles and felt very much on her side towards the end. My only criticism would be that maybe there were a few gaps in the story and I would of loved to see real footage at the end. Ще більше — про біль, який підштовхнув Емі до створення пісень. Саундтреки в цьому фільмі — 100000/10. Я в захваті: кожна пісня бере за душу. Маріса Абела неймовірно співає: її голос майже ідентичний до голосу Вайнгауз. Творці не скупились на пісні: майже всі відомі композиції Емі потрапили до картини. Момент із піснею Back to Black — найкращий у фільмі. У мене були мурашки по тілу. Музика лунає майже постійно: не тільки пісні співачки, а й те, що її надихає. Якщо ви не готові до цього, тоді перегляд стрічки не принесе вам стільки задоволення. Творчість Емі нерозривно пов’язана з її життям. У фільмі глядачам прямо кажуть, що співачка проживає свої пісні. Вона не може їх вигадати нізвідки. Її альбом Back to Black — тому підтвердження. Біографічна сторона картини особливо не відрізняється від усього, що ми бачили раніше: «Богемна рапсодія», «Рокетмен». Це цікаво, але драматично й сумно. Через долю Емі. У неї була не одна залежність. Творці їх не приховували, проте зі співачки не зробили погану людину. Трохи зломлену, але геніальну. За достовірність нічого не скажу, але гадаю, що більшість подій правдива. Актори круті, особливо Леслі Менвілл, яка грає бабусю співачки. Проте ніхто не зрівняється з Марісою Абелою і її Емі. Акторка миліша за співачку, проте дуже схожа. Зачіски, татуювання, стиль одягу й загалом енергетика передані на 1000%. Це неймовірна робота й без того, що Маріса співає ідентично до Вайнгауз.

Back to Black isn't as bad as most reviews make it out to be. While many music biopics rely heavily on the artist's songs to guide the audience through the film and keep them invested, Back to Black managed to interweave Amy Winehouse's music beautifully with important events in her life. The supporting cast all give solid performances, with Marisa Abela being a real standout. Both her overall performance and singing were powerful and a beautiful tribute to the icon portrayed. I also enjoyed the tender character dynamics between Amy and her grandmother and father. On its own, the film is perfectly entertaining. It's knowing Amy's story that takes away from the viewing experience. Back to Black lacks depth and was not nearly as emotional or tragic as I needed it to be given Amy's life. We as an audience didn't get to see or feel the full weight of her addiction or the role the people in her life played in it. What contributed to this circumstance is that the film tried to cover a lot of Amy's life, making it feel unfocused and rushed at times. Ultimately, Back to Black is a competently made film that gives insight into Amy Winehouse as a person while also exploring the downside of fame. In order to match the tragic story at its core, it could've benefited from a different approach, covering less of her life yet more in depth. My personal rating: 3/5 🎬

Igual sentí que la película está contada de forma colorida, considerando que la vida de Amy pasó por muchos momentos oscuros pero trataron de hacer más "light" la historia (su padre, su pareja), pero si me encantó la relación que tiene con su abuela, parece indicar que fue una de las personas más importantes en su vida. ~~~ Marisa como Amy me gustó mucho, no llega al nivel de Austin Butler como Elvis, pero hace un gran trabajo, desde los gestos y expresiones Marisa logra capturar esa esencia de Amy, es simplemente cautivadora. 🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿 Imperdible película para los fanáticos de su música y sí no eres fan pero quieres conocer un poco de está gran cantante, te la recomiendo. 🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿 Calificación: 3.5/5 🏅
