Men berømmelsen skyldes ikke mindst Louis Jadots nu legendariske vinmager, Jacques Lardière, der tiltrådte i 1970. Jacques Lardière er utvivlsomt en af vinverdenens helt store ledestjerner. En bestemt herre med en filosofisk tilgang til vinavl og vinfremstilling. Og ikke at forglemme ejerskab af 150 ha vinmarker, hvoraf 70 af disse ligger i Côte d’Or. What an amazing white burgundy event this was 🤩 🥂 The evening began with a warm welcome from the sommelier, who guided us through the lineup of Louis Jadot’s esteemed White Burgundy wines. With each pour, we embarked on a journey through Burgundy’s diverse terroir, from the crisp, mineral-driven wines of Chablis to the rich and opulent offerings of Meursault and Chassagne-Montrachet. The first wine was the 2015 Louis Jadot Blanchot Chablis Grand Cru. From the moment it touched my lips, I knew this wine would be something special! Its vibrant acidity and notes of green apple and citrus danced on my palate, leaving a lingering finish that begged for another sip. As the evening unfolded, this wine would emerge as my favorite, earning the title of “Wine of the Night” in my book! Next, 2015 Louis Jadot Fourchaume, Chablis Premier Cru, a wine that captivated with its layers of complexity and depth. With aromas of ripe stone fruit and a hint of sea breeze, it transported me to the windswept slopes of Chablis, where the terroir speaks through every sip. As the tasting continued, I found myself enchanted by the 2015 Louis Jadot Les Clos, Chablis Grand Cru, and the 2015 Louis Jadot Montee de Tonnerre, Chablis Premier Grand Cru. Each wine offered a unique expression of its terroir, from the minerality of Les Clos to the rich texture of Montee de Tonnerre, showcasing the diversity and complexity of Chablis’ premier and grand cru vineyards. Moving southward into the Cote de Beaune, I was treated to the elegance of the 2015 Louis Jadot Chassagne-Montrachet. With its delicate aromas of white flowers and subtle hints of oak, it spoke of the meticulous craftsmanship and attention to detail that define Louis Jadot’s wines. The journey reached its pinnacle with the 2015 Louis Jadot Genevrieres Meursault Premier Cru and the 2015 Louis Jadot Meursault Les Narvaux. These wines, with their luxurious texture and layers of creamy fruit, exemplified the richness and finesse of Meursault’s premier cru vineyards, leaving an indelible impression on my palate. Mugneret-Gibourg’s ‘14 Chaignots, visible but elegant tannins, red fruit forward, will benefit from more cellar years but still enjoyable. 10 and 20 yo btls. This Dauvissat not the other Dauvissat, but open and approachable, lemon/lime stone fruits, linear, balanced. Tonight, we opened a bottle of 2017 Louis Jadot Pinot Noir with friends. Here are our thoughts: Appearance: Deep cherry red color, the wine's rim suggests its relative youth, crystal clear quality with beautiful wine tears. Aroma: No need to decant wines from Burgundy, upon first whiff after pouring, floral notes are prominent, swirling the glass reveals hints of spices (a blend of spices and minerals, the distinction eludes me), along with the floral notes, it feels like wandering through an autumn orchard... Taste: Initially, seductive aromas of red fruits, a hint of cherry noted by a friend, though this flavor is not the entirety of a Burgundy red. Soon, the tartness of tannins comes through, medium-bodied with a long finish and a moderate austerity that gives this smooth and velvety wine a robust edge. I paired it with pork for lunch and the acidity balanced the pork's richness beautifully, a wonderful marriage indeed. Drawbacks: Clearly unoaked, the flavor profile is somewhat simplistic, while the various flavors are balanced, they are all somewhat subdued. It has been crazy trying to keep up since probably October, any semblance of a chronological order or sequence, so I am just going to write about wines without any time consequences. There is something called the “cloud” that I never asked for, that is going crazy with my photos, but that is fine, as I think that I will live. When Ms. Yoga was in town we decided to stop and have an afternoon snack in Plymouth. You have to understand that Ms. Yoga likes to nosh, so charcuterie boards are perfect for her. Actually, years ago, Ms. Yoga lived in Plymouth, when I first met her, but the city is totally changed since those days. Ms. Yoga decided that she was going to enjoy a Louis Jadot Steel Chardonnay Vin de France 2022. Louis Jadot began as a negocient in 1859 based in Beaune, one of the centers of the Burgundy region of France. The Louis Jadot firm has a portfolio of wines from the basic regional wines to some of the most lauded vineyards in the region. The firm was acquired in 1985 by the owners of US wine importer Kobrand, which still owns the company and imports Jadot’s wines into the USA. This particular wine carries the Vin de France appellation which has replaced the old Vin de Table or Table Wine, which became the kiss of death to most merchants and to the buying public as well. This is a bulk wine that caters to the crowd that wants a Chardonnay instead of a French Chablis. It is also proclaiming that it is a Steel Chardonnay, so there is not oak aging, so it is an easier and less costly wine to produce, and the grapes only have to be from France to appease the appellation laws. It was a pretty golden-yellow wine that offered notes of citrus, green apples, and white florals. On the palate, the wine had tones of green apple, a touch of lemon-lime, a trace of almonds, quite crisp and refreshing with moderate acidity and a medium body with finish of some fruit and alcohol. Stor Bourgogne, smakrik med bra längd. Romanee-Saint-Vivant 1966 från Domaine Marey-Monge, vinifierat och buteljerat av Domaine de la Romanée-Conti är ett stort vin. (Leroy, de distribuerade vinet). Moget med asiatiska kryddor och jordgubbar. Inte riktigt lika bra som den flaska vi drack på AG förra året. Bara 95p idag 😃. Petrus, kom liksom de andra vinerna in blint. Gissade på Latour 1966, 1970 eller möjligen 1971. Fel, men ändå i rätt årgångshärad. Så bra som en 1970:ia kan vara. Mogen, rätt stram med elegant frukt. We don’t often enjoy to great, older vintage, wines in one weekend. But, just like the 1990 Château Margaux on Friday, this 1999 Louis Jadot Beaune Clos des Ursules was tremendous, as well. Perhaps not quite the power of the Bordeaux, but charming in its own right. The wine was a fairly translucent ruddy red in color with some brownish tint along the rim. On the nose; red fruits, cassis, coffee, sous bois and damp earth all played a role. In the mouth; red cherry, strawberry, red currant, mocha, soy sauce, mushrooms and saline-infused minerals made their presence known. The wine was sweet and concentrated, but firm. It paired very well with Poulet à la crème aux morilles. And the jasmine rice was just perfect for soaking up the extra juices. We have a lot of great bottles from older vintages available, as we bought them to share with our kids, when they reached adulthood. But, our daughter counts macros and gave up drinking alcohol, and our son prefers beer. So, Amy and I will have to “force” ourselves to go through these bottles😂. Table was almost evenly divided, Krug vs Cedric Bouchard. Impressive how Cedric Bouchard held its own against Krug. 170 vs 171 ème, Krug definitely benefits greatly with age. PYCM pair, producer signature definitely dominates. Montrachet was past its prime, but no premox and still enjoyable. Very long finish. Trip of ‘06s. Dujac was the crowd favorite, had the most fruit and longest finish. I loved the de Vogüé, shorter but softest tannins. CSJ was the most masculine and animal.
