A moment of reflection.... When many of us mothers to be are given the results of our unborn baby's tests showing an extra chromosome, we are encouraged to consider our options. "This is going to be difficult with a lot of sacrifices". "You can terminate and try again". These are words that I kept hearing from the medical professionals and trust me, I am not the only one. This is a standard practice because they need to explain the benefits, risks, and options. As I sit here in the hospital with my son, I am taken back to those options that they constantly reminded me that I had. I am taken back to those sacrifices I was told would be too much. And all I can think of is how wrong they are. Sacrifice? It's an honor to be Jojo's mother. Terminate the pregnancy and try again? Why? This is my son. We don't throw people away because they have a medical issue. We don't throw people away because they are different. If you or someone you know just received the news that their baby has down syndrome, please don't be sad. I'm only 4 years into this journey and I can't picture my life any other way. Pravdou je,že to nie je o diagnóze. Ale o možnosti a otvorenosti rodičov. Deti so vzájomnou hrou problém žiaden nemajú 😇. Väčšinou sú to predsudky rodičov,ktoré dokážu takejto hre brániť... Preto je dôležité najmä na strane rodičov, aby s edukáciou o deťoch s rôznymi znevýhodneniami, či "odlišnosťami" začali v úplne najranejšom veku. AD/GIFTED Elsie had an audiology appointment last month which we were told she had a build up of wax and to start using olive oil drops. A few days later @earoluk reached out to us and wanted to send us their Baby Earol olive oil spray. As you can see Elsie is very happy with the product we have received in the post as well as wanting to read it. This spray is from 6 Months to 12 Years, We have been using it the last couple of days and Elsie isn’t bothered by me spraying it in her ear. Milestone celebration! 🎉🎉🎉 Augustus started sitting unassisted! And although he's turning 1 very soon, it's important to understand that each child develops at their own pace. While some children with Down syndrome may achieve sitting independently around the same age as typically developing children, others may take longer to reach this milestone. I love this kid so much! I was feeling sort of discouraged and just down before going to the @dearmomconference this weekend. The speakers gave me so much to think about and gave me a new perspective and hope for Xander’s future. This “Dear Mom” bracelet was designed specifically for the @dearmomconference conference this past weekend. I wanted something feminine to represent all of the amazing women who show up daily for our community and something that had meaning.
