October 30, 2022: the Marine Corps Marathon! One of the best organized and funnest marathons I ever did. Known as ‘the people’s marathon’ a field of 30,000 runners start at the Pentagon, running to Rosslyn, Georgetown, Haines Point, along the Mall towards the Capitol, back into Virginia through Crystal City ending at Arlington with the medal presentation at the Iwo Jima memorial. Organized by a detachment of Marines, the water and aid stations are staffed by enthusiastic Marines given you a well timed ooh-rah when your flagging. After roughly 300 running miles. A handful of 5k runs. A couple of 10Ks. A Marathon, a half marathon, and a few crossfit running WODS…my @nobull running shoes will go into retirement today.
