When we decided to live full time in our van, we spent ages debating what extra mode of transport to get. Motorbikes, scooters, tow car or bikes. We settled on bikes but in 2020, during the pandemic pushbikes were about as rare as rocking horse poop, the whole world had sold out! The only bikes we could find were E-bikes and believe me, they were a bit of a splurge 💰 at that time but it was worth the spend! We’ve now had these bikes for nearly 4 years and we can honestly say, they were the best money we’ve ever spent! We’ve had the best adventures on them, seen places that we would of bypassed, used them for emergencies during breakdowns and best of all we’ve laughed like two 11 year old kids “playing out” every time we’ve zoomed up or down a hill at breakneck speed! Permission to MUCK AROUND👇 In my first semester of art school I had this instructor who was just as strange can be. Misunderstood, awkward…aren’t we all, whatever. One day she drew a dot in the middle of a bunch of circular scribble on the white board—trying to illustrate how creatives tend to “muck around” quite a bit before we run into The Idea. One of my classmates went ahead and picked this battle. She argued that the term “muckin’ around” is so insulting; that everything she does in exploration of the problem is meaningful. In hindsight I think they were saying the same thing 🤪, which is that it’s okay and necessary in this field to wonder around sometimes. Ideas find us when we are ready to have them. So that’s fine, and I share this story + a fun graphic about it as a way of holding space for myself…because I feel like I’m on consecutive Day—like—39 of “Muckin’ Around.” Do you ever feel this way?
