Today, for some reason, I’ve been reflecting on the journey of the shaman. There is a fascination that stirs knowing that there is a rich history of healers and shamans in a variety of cultures across the Earth and across time. That there is something new, something deeper learned each time I conduct a healing. That the journey can be difficult and heart breaking at times. The ones that can see in the dark. Can wrestle with it. And when I ask “What am I here for?” The answer is always “to Love”. Because when I lay my hands on someone, that is what I feel. Love. It brings me to tears most of the time. How wonderfully and magnificently we are loved. When I witness the multitude of guides and ancestors that are surrounding the person lying on the table before me, it reminds me that I too am not alone. That I too am loved. At times it drags me through, so that I may provide some sort of map or compass. It lays the mysteries out on the table like a thousand puzzle pieces, and calls for me to sit and work them into a whole. And the words have power. The unlocking of a memory when we hear a distant sound. Shaman. Priestess. Awakens something old. Something lost in fading scrolls, buried in salt and sand. And how it has brought me joy. Joy in learning and seeking. Joy in meeting people. Joy in serving and Loving. How it has brought me to great teachers that I love and admire so much.
