ᵂᴱᴿᴮᵁᴺᴳ Irgendwo zwischen Frühling und Winter (in meinem Fall), oder auch zwischen mild und wild, zwischen den sanften Weinbergen der Donau und der rauen Bergwelt der Mostviertler Alpen (für alle anderen Radfahrer:innen, die nicht gerade an den kältesten Tagen seit Winterende unterwegs sind) – das ist der Traisentalradweg 🚲🇦🇹 Auf 111 Kilometern verbindet der Traisentalweg unterschiedliche Welten. Führt mal durch üppige Wälder, am Ufer des gurgelnden Flusses Traisen entlang, mal durch beschauliche Ortschaften und schließlich über einen Pass, bis es immer höher geht, immer wilder wird. Und dann endet er, der Traisentalradweg, zwischen einer postkartenreifen Gipfellandschaft in Mariazell. Ausgeschildert ist die Route des Traisentalradwegs in beide Richtungen. Und während es meiner Erfahrung nach bei Radwegen häufig keinen gravierenden Unterschied macht, in welche Richtung wir ihn befahren, ändert sich der Charakter des Traisentalradwegs mit der Fahrtrichtung schlagartig: Weil du entweder von den lieblichen Hügeln entlang der Donau auf imposante Gipfel zusteuerst – immer bergauf. Oder aber, weil du zwischen den imposanten Gipfeln startest und deutlich gemütlicher auf die Weinrebenlandschaft des lieblichen Mostviertels zurollst. Und ich glaube, genau das macht ihn aus, den Traisentalradweg: Weil er genau das werden kann, was wir suchen, je nachdem, ob wir gen Norden oder Süden radeln. PS: Rate mal, wofür ich mich entschieden habe 🫠

Well, that was even tougher than we expected. All of the riders are in from the inaugural @hellenicmountainrace . Bear tracks, wolf sightings, unrelenting climbs, the cold, the wet and the majesty of Greek mountains, all summed up the experience at the Hellenic. In the women’s field, there was an intense battle between Katie Jane @katiejaneendurance who despite suffering mechanical issues and serious leg injuries legs earlier in the race kept tight to Quinda Verheul @avoidtheavoid till the end. The race was a nail-biting finish with Quinda taking the win in just over 7 days with Katie following close behind. For the men’s field, the race finish saw the lead riders roll in with @adrien__liechti taking the overall win @manu.truccolo following closely behind, coming in a few hours after. A special thanks goes to @nelsontrees for bringing us the 3rd race in the Mountain Race Series: a wild adventure through the mountainous region of Greece. We ask ourselves the question: Have we ever been in a higher place? Exhausted and completely sweaty, we reach the sign at 2644m. We have never been so close to Iran. We are seized by euphoria. Soldiers are watching us from a military checkpoint. Today starts the Badlands Komoot women’s rally, a 650km off road route into the beautiful deserts of south of Spain 🏜️ A big departure of 70 womens ! It will be the third time I come here. The first time was 3 years ago when I scouted the route with my friend @breakaway_sara ( and got covered with peanut butter mud ) the second to race badlands ( photo 1). It will also be my third rally, organised by Komoot and the wonderful @laelwilcox and @rugilekaladyte . Those rally have a special place in my heart, as it was meeting fellow women riders on my first rally 3 years ago that got me into ultra cycling and therefore the life I am living now. This week, there is no rush, the plan is to enjoy the views, the good Spanish food and come back with new friends ! I CROSSED THE SAHARA 🥳 about 2.300 kilometers by bike first 1.000 kilometers solo the rest in very good company 19 days on the bike 7 spontaneous rest days 8 nights in my tent 3 stays with locals 8 hostels/appartment 6-10l of water everyday 10 cyclists met along the way 2 border crossings 94 hours on the bike 2 hitchhikes (out of Dakhla & Nouadhibou) lots of sweet tailwind two small sandstorms tons of uncertainty beforehand a lot of happiness & relief afterwards ...and the adventure keeps going! Probably one of the best experiences for me by bike so far. It was a mix of nervousness, excitement, commitment, freedom, endlessness and lots of unexpected positive encounters. And now I landed in a green paradise, pitched my tent under some palm trees, surrounded by the most colorful birds & wild monkeys. Entrem a Pakistan en el transcurs de l'última setmana de Ramadà. Des del primer moment ens sentim molt benvinguts al país, a cada pocs metres la gent ens para i ens ofereix beguda o menjar, o simplement ens esperen al cantó de la carretera amb una bossa a les mans amb algun snack i refrescos; fins i tot ens han donat calés. I tot això mentre ells celebraven el Ramadà. La conducció a les carreteres és caòtica, però sincerament ja estem acostumats. Els homes ens donen les mans als dos, o fins i tot m'abracen al primer moment, sense coneixens. Ens costa pagar als restaurants i a les botigues, tothom ens dona el seu número de telèfon per si tenim algun contratemps ajudar-nos... Avancem lentament perquè cada pocs km coneixem a algú i parem a compartir una estona. Hem creuat el Punjab pakistanès i ja som a la capital (Islamabad). Fa dies que plou i ens va bé per descansar, ja que, en uns dies continuarem complint somnis rodant per la KARAKORUM HIGHWAY, la carretera de l'amistat que connecta la Xina amb Pakistan. In Alicante gönnen wir uns 3 Tage Pause. Wir checken in eine Unterkunft ein, und bereuten unsere Buchung auch zeitnah. Die Verwalter der Wohnung war Alles egal. Hier nur ein paar Punkte die WIR irgendwie lösen mussten während unseres Aufenthaltes: * Kein Mülleimer in gesamter Wohnung * Waschmaschine ging nicht * nichts zum Wäsche aufhängen * die Küche war super dreckig * wegen abfallenden Türgriff waren wir zeitweise im Zimmer eingeschlossen * fast von Gardinenstange erschlagen worden Und so weiter.... Wir waren froh als wir abreisen konnten🤣 Die Moral aus der Geschichte, keine Unterkünfte OHNE vorherige Bewertung buchen. Selbst schuld😅 Aber dann ging es wieder in die geliebten Berge. Das faszinierende an Spanien ist, fahre nicht mal 10 km von der Küste ins Inland, und du wirst dich ganz häufig wie im Nirgendwo fühlen. Plötzlich super wenig Autos, Häuser, Menschen. Faszinierend und erschreckend gleichzeitig 🙄 _____ Alicante'de kendimize 3 günlük bir mola veriyoruz. Bir konaklama birimine yerleştik ve rezervasyonumuzdan hemen pişman olduk. Apartman yöneticisi umursamadı. Burada kaldığımız süre boyunca bir şekilde çözmemiz gereken birkaç nokta var: * Dairenin tamamında çöp kutusu yoktur * Çamaşır makinesi çalışmıyordu *çamaşır asacak hiçbir şey yok * mutfak çok kirliydi * Kapı kolunun düşmesi nedeniyle geçici olarak odada kilitli kaldık * Neredeyse perde çubuğu tarafından öldürülüyordu Ve benzeri... Ayrılabildiğimizde mutluyduk🤣 Hikayeden alınacak ders, önceden inceleme yapmadan konaklama rezervasyonu yapmayın. Senin kendi hatan😅 Ama sonra sevgili dağlara geri döndük. İspanya'nın büyüleyici yanı, kıyıdan 10 km'den daha az bir mesafeye gitmeniz ve çoğu zaman kendinizi hiçliğin ortasındaymış gibi hissetmenizdir. Birdenbire çok az araba, ev ve insan kaldı. JULIANA BIKE TRAIL (day 5): Kranjska Gora to Soča via Vršič Pass Back on the bikes after a fantastic excursion up Mt Triglav yesterday, this is when the cycle route gets *serious* An 800m climb on fully loaded bikes is always a little challenging, but when it’s stacked into 24 hairpin switchbacks on a busy road… this was far and away the hardest day of the trip for me & we had to stop pretty frequently on the ascent due to extreme fatigue! The feeling of finally rolling up to the top of the pass, knowing we had 26 switchbacks of glorious downhill awaiting on the backside but also that I managed to survive the ascent, was gold! Every kilometre was hard-earned, as were all the radlers I consumed on the journey 🍻 ____ JULIANA BİSİKLET PARKURU (5. gün): Vršič Geçidi üzerinden Kranjska Gora'dan Soča'ya Dün Triglav Dağı'nda harika bir gezinin ardından bisikletlere geri dönüyoruz, işte o zaman bisiklet rotası *ciddileşiyor* Tam yüklü bisikletlerle 800 metrelik bir tırmanış her zaman biraz zorludur, ancak yoğun bir yolda 24 keskin dönüşe istiflendiğinde… bu benim için yolculuğun açık ara en zor günüydü ve çıkış sırasında oldukça sık durmak zorunda kaldık. aşırı yorgunluğa! Arka tarafta bizi bekleyen 26 muhteşem yokuş aşağı geçişimiz olduğunu ve aynı zamanda yükselişte hayatta kalmayı başardığımı bilerek nihayet geçidin tepesine çıkma hissi altın değerindeydi! Sturm ohne Ende Aufgrund einer Schlechtwetterfront mussten wir den Besuch des Parque Natural del Alto Tajo leider ausfallen lassen. Dort sollte es Dauerregnen und schneien. So fuhren wir weiter Richtung Frankreich. Es fängt nun ständig an zu Winden und zu stürmen. Da wir jetzt ein neues Zelt für 50 Euro von Decathlon haben, müssen wir uns etwas vorsehen. Es soll maximal 40kmh Wind vertragen, bevor es ihm zuviel wird. Das ist nicht gerade viel 😅 So tun wir das einzig vernünftige, wir suchen uns jeden Abend einen Unterstand und bauen das Zelt in diesem Windschutz auf. Die Gegend südlich von Zaragoza scheint dafür hervorragend geeignet zu sein. Wir finden wirklich jeden Abend was passendes. Das Zelt hat laut Decathlon ein Lebenszyklus von 14 Tagen pro Jahr. Soll dann ein paar Jahre halten. Ja wenn man das so rechnet, dann haben wir das 2 Monate in Benutzung und es ist kaputt? Ein paar sonnige und warme Tage. Wir geniessen sie sehr, da wir jetzt schon wissen was uns bald erwartet. Es ist so warm, das man sich sogar die Haare am Brunnen waschen kann. Herrlich. Das Wetter ist hier generell sehr wechselhaft. Gerade ist der Dauerzustand ständiger Wechsel. 1 Tag Sonne mit 25 Grad, am nächsten Tag 2 Grad mit Schneeregen. Wir versuchen uns daran zu gewöhnen😅 Mittlerweile vermeiden wir Weitreichende Wetterprognosen. Wir checken max 24h im Vorraus. Alles andere macht keinen Sinn. Unser neues Zelt für nicht mal 50 Euro von Decathlon kann dann mal zeigen was es vom Wetterwechsel hält. Die ersten Tage ging es sich ganz gut an. Wir halten euch diesbezüglich auf dem Laufenden . Via Verde de Ojos Negros, Spanien Knapp 200km schlängelt sich der Via Verde von der Küste nahe Valencia ins Inland, Richtung Teruel. Wir haben uns sehr auf ihn gefreut und wurden aber riesig enttäuscht. Der Via Verde geht zum grossen Teil durch nicht gerade atemberaubendes landwirtschaftliches Gebiet uns sehr oft, sehr nah an der Autobahn entlang. Es ist also dementsprechend laut. Zugegeben, das letzte hätte man vorher schon gut wissen können. Der Fahrbahnbelag war unterirdisch, teilweise schlechter als irgendeine x beliebige Gravel Road. Generell finden wir schwierigen Straßenbelag auch nicht schlimm, aber eigentlich haben wir den nur immer wenn wir in sehr schöne Gebiete kommen. Da lohnt es sich dann auch zu schieben, weil es nicht fahrbar ist. Aber einfach nur Schlaglochüberseht neben Feldern langzufahren, die penetrant nach Schweinescheisse riechen, ist dann auch nicht das wahre. Punkt. Wir waren froh als es vorbei war😅 Als wir dann auf irgendeine x beliebige kleine Landstraße in den Bergen abbogen, war auch sofort alles wieder vergessen. Die Szenerie und Stimmung änderte sich Schlagartig. Generell ist auf vielen spanischen Landstraßen so wenig los, das es dort herrlich ist zu fahren. ☀️As the sun shines 24/7 above the Arctic circle during summer our days up north became a bright blur. The midnight sun is both a blessing and a curse for us, as we tend to bike until sunset. And when it never comes – who knows what time to put up the tent or cook dinner🌛🍜? Luckily we didn’t struggle to find good camping spots, and sometimes we ended up just next to a tropical looking beach. Perhaps you’ve seen those turquoise instafamous ones scrolling down your feed? They’re all spectacular, but in the end our favourites were off the crowds, like the beaches on the tiny island of Skrova. Ve o hiç gelmediğinde, çadırı ne zaman kuracağını veya akşam yemeğini ne zaman pişireceğini kim bilebilir🌛🍜? Şans eseri iyi kamp yerleri bulmakta zorlanmadık ve bazen kendimizi tropikal görünümlü bir plajın hemen yanında bulduk. Belki de o turkuaz rezil olanları feed'inizde aşağı kaydırırken görmüşsünüzdür? Hepsi muhteşem, ama sonuçta favorilerimiz, küçük Skrova adasındaki plajlar gibi kalabalığın arasından çıktı. Çok yağmur yağdığı için hiç güzel fotoğraf çekemedik, bu yüzden oraya kendi başınıza bisikletle gitmeniz gerekiyor. Ama gitmeden önce, kuzeye doğru bir bisiklet gezisinde unutmamanız gerekenleri görmek için kaydırın! When we first traveled to northern Vietnam in 2000, we didn't feel welcome at all. It took us 3 days in Hanoi to find a bus to Dien Bien Phu on the border with Laos — one that would take us. But we only got as far as Son La that time and never made it to Dien Bien Phu. About a week ago we finally got there and this time, we do feel welcome. Biggest challenge 🫣 One of the most dangerous roads in the world - the Abano Pass. We thought long about whether we should really cycle up here - I was very skeptical at first, but Linus was able to persuade me. And so a new adventure began! The one-lane gravel road goes 28 km and 2500 of elevation up to the Abano Pass, where the Tushetien National Park begins. But the way up there is very challenging - it took us 2 days to arrive at the highest pass (accessible by car) in Georgia. And yes, it was a challenge - because the "road" is (partly) in a very bad condition and the gradient is continuous.... just steep. But at the half of the pass we were rewarded by a bath in hot springs and we had an unforgettable evening with local people. But more about that next time 🤭 _____ En büyük zorluk Dünyanın en tehlikeli yollarından biri Abano Geçidi. Buraya gerçekten bisikletle mi gelmemiz gerektiği konusunda uzun süre düşündük; ilk başta çok şüpheliydim ama Linus beni ikna etmeyi başardı. Ve böylece yeni bir macera başladı! Tek şeritli çakıl yol, 28 km ve 2500 rakımla Tushetien Milli Parkı'nın başladığı Abano Geçidi'ne kadar gidiyor. Ancak oraya giden yol çok zorlu; Gürcistan'ın en yüksek geçişine (arabayla ulaşılabilen) ulaşmamız 2 günümüzü aldı. Ve evet, bu bir meydan okumaydı; çünkü "yol" (kısmen) çok kötü durumda ve eğim sürekli... sadece dik. Ancak geçidin yarısında kaplıcalarda banyo yaparak ödüllendirildik ve yöre halkıyla unutulmaz bir akşam geçirdik. Die letzten Tage waren spannend und abwechslungsreich! Mit unserem Zelt-Schnäppchen sind wir ständig auf der Suche nach leeren Gebäuden um uns vor dem Wind zu schützen. Denn eigentlich ist es nur für Wind bis zu 40 km/h freigegeben. Die Grenze wird hier aber beinahe jeden Tag und Nacht gerissen. Aber meist finden wir einen Unterschlupf. Wir waren Zeugen einer Lamm Geburt, sind ein Teil eines schönen Via Verde entlang gerollt, haben direkt neben einem spanischen Dorf geschlafen und die Spaziergänger irritiert, haben uns gestritten und wieder versöhnt, haben gemeinsam im Wind gefroren und haben gemeinsam in der Sonne geschmunzelt. Jetzt sind ein paar Tage Pause angesagt. Unsere Akkus sind ein bisschen leer, unsere eigenen und die unserer Geräte. Füße hoch und einfach mal gar nichts tun. So schön ist unser Leben nun, wir haben unseren eigenen Takt, treiben uns selber an und ziehen selbst die Bremse falls benötigt. Frühstück mit den Ladies 🐔🐤🐔 zu Ostern Als wir uns vor dem Regen flüchteten, und in diesem charmanten Abbruch Gebäude Obdach funden, wurden wir freundlich von drei Hühnern begrüsst. Und das am Ostersonntag 🐰 Es stellte sich heraus das die französische Dame im Camper van nebenan mit ihren Hühnern verreist. Diese haben hinten eine Box am Auto, wo sie während der Fahrt reinkommen. Sehr interessantes und inspirierenden Urlaubs Modell🐷 Zum krönenden Abschluss durfte Maria auch ein Huhn auf den Arm nehmen. Sahara desert 🙌💛 It was really awesome to cycle on these long straight roads through the desert with a crazy tailwind and with great compagny! I really enjoyed it, the dunes, the roads, the camels, the camp spots, everything was super nice, I would have loved to keep going like this for a few more thousand kilometers. Mon voyage à vélo à travers l’Amérique vient de toucher à sa fin. Le déplacement à vélo est, selon moi, l’une des manières la plus simple, douce et agréable pour aller d’un point à un autre. Sur de longues distances, ce mode de déplacement se transforme en véritable thérapie, ouvre l’esprit et la curiosité. Il permet de percevoir des instants de nature rares, d’établir une introspection sûre soit, de s’ouvrir en toute humilité aux populations que l’on rencontre. L’observation devient alors notre art, ainsi que la compréhension du monde et la remise en question. Certes, cette activité n’est parfois pas facile. Chaque jour il faut trouver de l’eau, de la nourriture, un lieu où poser la tente le soir, réparer son vélo, faire face à certaines rencontres peu désirables ou encore essayer de dormir dans des forêts remplies d’ours. Mais toutes ces péripéties rendent en réalité le voyage plus croustillant. Être libre est une perception propre à chacun de nous. Pour mon cas, grâce au voyage, j’ai réussi à trouver un soupçon d’équilibre, une période de paix et un brain de liberté. Je tiens à remercier mes parents qui m’ont offert cette vie et qui m’acceptent comme je suis. Je remercie mes amis qui ont toujours cru en moi tout en me laissant comprendre que j’étais un peu fou. Je remercie toutes les personnes qui m’ont suivi, encouragée et motivé. Vous m’avez permis d’appuyer un peu plus fort sur les pédales chaque jour. Je remercie de toute évidence la commune de Saint Gervais qui me soutient depuis mon premier voyage, qui croit en moi. Et pour finir, je remercie Guillemette, ma fabuleuse aventurière que j’ai eu la chance de rencontrer sur la route et qui aura m’aura agréablement accompagnée le reste de mon voyage. « Une société durable n’est possible que si ça population ne se déplace plus vite qu’une bicyclette » Merci tout le monde ! _____ Amerika'daki bisiklet yolculuğum yeni sona erdi. We crossed the Western Sahara! A long straight tarmac line of hundreds of kilometers. There was resupply every 80-100 kilometers, trucks were very cautious when overtaking us, and we got thousand of cheering from all the drivers. I listened to hundreds of podcasts on the way and what was days on the bike finally felt like a minute ! Now Mauritania ! _____ Batı Sahra'yı geçtik! Yüzlerce kilometrelik uzun, düz bir asfalt hattı. Her 80-100 kilometrede bir ikmal yapılıyordu, tırlar bizi sollarken çok dikkatliydi ve tüm sürücülerden binlerce tezahürat aldık. Yolda yüzlerce podcast dinledim ve bisikletle geçirdiğim günler sonunda bir dakika gibi geldi!
