It was nearly 90 degrees outside and I was wearing a white tank top. You know the ones that are tight across the chest and then flair out after that? That was the style I was most comfortable in at the time. I need it loose in the belly area, nothing clingy. It was before kids but after high school, those years that we didn’t eat well, barley exercised and gained more pounds than I’d like to admit. My confidence was low already and on that particular day I walked into subway to grab lunch and I’ll never forget the conversation between me and the lady ahead of me in line. Lady: “you must be just miserable in this heat” Me: “It is pretty hot out there today” (oblivious to her intent) Lady: “I remember being that pregnant, it’s never fun in these temps” Me: *silent* “oh, I’m not pregnant” The lady turns around and that conversation ends about as awkwardly as it gets. I was mortified, embarrassed and ashamed. I wanted validation from my friends and family that I didn’t in fact look pregnant but deep down I already knew. If I could go back and talk to Katie then, I’d tell her that it’s not about her size or what other people think but her confidence does matter. The foods she’s eating are doing more harm than good and she doesn’t need hours at the gym to start feeling good again. She has the power and the control to change things and she doesn’t need some external factor to make it happen. I wish she could feel what natural energy feels like from following a fitness and nutrition plan. I wish she knew what she was truly capable of. I’m thankful for how far I’ve come. I’m happy to report I’ve not been asked if I was pregnant in years, and I had been asked multiple times prior to following a program. (Outside of actually being pregnant of course) My only regret? That I didn’t start sooner. I struggled for years, not knowing the answers could be so simple. Find accountability. Find simple nutrition. My hubby and I no longer plan Birthday parties or get-togethers. Instead, I plan VACATIONS. Let me break this down for you why I decided to go a different route. We plan a party or get-together for people to show up and eat all the food. ‼️No one helps clean up. ‼️No one brings a dish or hotdog 🤷🏽♀️. ‼️We spend roughly $200+ (estimate with food/beverages /drinkydrinks).
