Another high protein meal post gym šŸ’Ŗ Yes loving my bodypump class atm.. Getting there when I've got the energy & partner is home to be with little one..šŸ’œ Teriyaki salmon, rice, steamed veg with added hummus & seeds for exta fibre & protein. I guesstimate this meal has around 25-26g of protein. I also had a high protein yoghurt after - just cause it was reduced, but regular yoghurt is also good! So my total meal was 32g protein +. Need that protein shake still? ...it's an easy way to get your protein in.. šŸ§”Turmeric Pasta Salad to round out my July bingo card of meals to make. ā€¢ T U R M E R I C This golden root is probably not new to most of you and historically has been a cornerstone spice in SE Asian cooking (hello curry powder!) and Ayurvedic and Eastern medicinešŸŖ· ā€¢ Turmeric contains an active compound called curcumin which is associated with many of its anti-inflammatory benefits because it is an antioxidant!šŸ«š ā€¢ However, curcumin has a low bioavailability (aka rate your body absorbs) so to help get the most for absorption āž”ļø black pepper should be taken alongside. Also! Curcumin is fat soluble meaning it breaks down in fat. This may be why tempering oil (adding spices to flavor oil) is a popular way to eat turmeric in India and other Se Asian countries! ā€¢ The full extent of turmericā€™s health benefits are still being explored but with its antioxidant properties and antioxidants role to fight free radicals (aka potentially lower risk of cancer and chronic disease), enhance your immune system, andreduce infections itā€™s one of my favorite spices i like to incorporate into my diet. āœØGleaningāœØ . Gleaning at Kitchawan Farm consists of harvesting excess and ā€œsecondsā€ produce. My primary role at Kitchawan last week was to harvest red and yellow tomatoes šŸ…! . The food that we harvested gets cleaned and transported back to @secondchancefoods to be cooked and/or distributed. . Thereā€™s something very refreshing about getting down in the dirt and seeing how food is grown and harvested as opposed to just seeing it on a shelf at the grocery store. . While at the farm, I had the pleasure of meeting @kayakerlynda. She captured these photos among many other beauties of my fellow volunteers. Check out her work and show her some ā¤ļø! . My time at my internship is coming to an end, but I do feel that my time with this organization and type of work is not over whatsoever. . šŸŒˆ Eat the rainbow . Easy vegetable frittata that takes less than an hour to make! . ā­ļøWhat you need: - 1 carton liquid egg whites - Vegetables of your choice - Sweet potato - Baking powder - Seasonings of your choice . ā­ļø1. Cut sweet potato and bake for 20 minutes 2. Meanwhile, sauteĢ vegetables (I used mushroom, onion, spinach, peppers and zucchini 3. Add egg white mix after vegetables have cooled 4. Add 2 tsp of baking powder and seasonings (I used EBTB) 5.
