⠀⠀ Hi everyone, ⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ I wanted to share some personal news with you all. Recently, I was diagnosed with Low-grade appendiceal neoplasm (LAMN), a rare type of appendix cancer, after several lengthy hospitalizations for severe infections from a ruptured appendix the past year and a surgical biopsy revealing the malignancy at the end of December. It’s been a challenging time, but I’m facing this head-on. I’m surrounded by incredible support from family and friends. ⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ A special thank you to the @appendixcancerpmp ACPMP foundation and its executive director, Deborah Shelton, who helped to navigate, understand, and provide invaluable resources for this challenging diagnosis. ⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ Next week, I’ll head down to MD Anderson in Houston, TX, to meet with Dr. Keith F. Fournier, MD, a surgical oncologist, and his remarkable team to discuss treatment options and further testing. ⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ I’m sharing this not just to update you on my life but also to raise awareness about this rare type of cancer. This vessel is used in Japanese fishing to catch octopus. It is also a name of a cardiac condition called ”Takotsubo Cardiomyopathy” it was first reported in Japan in 1990. It was named "takotsubo" cardiomyopathy (broken heart syndrome) because during the acute phase of the syndrome, the left ventricle bulges and takes on a balloon shape.
