Last year, I purposefully took a month off social media and didn’t take on any new clients in an attempt to really slow down. A lifestyle that includes a habit of rest has become the new “hustle” in my home and I’m so grateful. While I love all we do for Anchor, life gets busy with our company and raising three young kids. This intentional pause was life-giving and I’m excited to do that in May too! While we don’t take on any new clients, we do take care of our current clients while also focusing more of rest. Win-win! Happy Friday ☕️ After a particularly hectic start to the week having to get electricians in, things seem to have turned around 😊 One of the highlights was finally getting my hair cut! It's the first time I've had it done in a year 😬 and to say it was badly needing done was an understatement! But now it's looking healthy, & actually looks longer somehow! Something I have been meaning to review for a little while was one of the activities we arranged for my soon-to-be sister-in-law’s hen do! Please don’t ask how we ended up with a Harry Potter and Pride and Prejudice themed ‘do’ but it happened 🤣 and we tried to pick activities that suited the very specific theme - pin the dong on the Darcy anyone!? 🙈 Aside from sticking peens to pictures of Colin Firth we also decided to do some potion making in the form of creating our own perfumes, and to do that we invited @perfumestudiolondon to come along and teach us about the art of perfume making! At £39 per person I thought this was a great way to spend a few hours learning about how perfumes are made, and smelling over 20 different blends of base, middle and top notes to create our perfect fragrance! The bride-to-be got a bottle of hers to take home and we all got a sample size of the mix we created. However, The Perfume Studio take your email address and your chosen blends and create an account on their website you can claim and then can order your signature scent any time you like! Our host was fabulous and advised us on which blends could be found in our favourite off-the-shelf perfumes. She also made suggestions of which blends to try together to create different styles of fragrance, sweet, fruity, masculine etc. The bags of coffee beans were very much needed to reset the sense of smell! Some people managed to whittle their blends down to a handful, of course I was not one of those people and had quite a lot going into my sample! It was so interesting to see how some blends were universally liked and some were very polarising! People could smell different things in different blends and it was a good way for the group to get chatting and getting to know each other. The workshop lasted around 2 hours and I enjoyed every minute! I would highly recommend this for a hen do or other type of girly get together where you are looking to be creative and take home a momento from the experience! I don’t know who needs to hear this but lead with confidence and know that you deserve a seat at the table! Today I’m feeling immensely grateful to be in community with so many amazing and dynamic women. Here’s some things I reflected on from a women’s conference I attended at work today: -Pursue opportunities to solve the problems you care about. -Seek advice from people who will give you a fresh perspective instead of just telling you what they think you want to hear. -Don’t be afraid to take risks and leave comfortable positions. There is so much growth and opportunity outside the confines of your comfort zone. -There will be times to lean into work that will take more of your time, but make sure you recognize the times when you need to pull out and lean into your personal life.
