After our lovely mashed potato lunch, we wandered over to the National Museum. One thing we hadn’t taken into account was Easter School Holidays 😩! The Museum was knee deep in parents, kids and strollers! So we decided to go to the event exhibition on the basis that not many parents would pay for tickets given that the rest of the exhibits were free 🤣! The Event Exhibition was the Wildlife Photographer of the Year. The photos were stunning and my pictures don’t do them justice 😏! There were nearly 50,000 entries and we saw about 100 of them. I took Cubby to the pediatrician today and he tested positive for Strep. Got Kate home from school and she had a fever, so I went back to the pediatrician and she tested positive for Strep. This evening Claire came to me hot with flushed cheeks. Now she has a fever. Tomorrow you'll likely find us back at the doctor's office. I'm going to have them look at Sam while they're at it. One widower, Frank Beardsley (Henry Fonda) meets widow Helen North (Lucille Ball). Frank is in the Navy and has recently lost his wife. Oh, and he has 10 children! Helen is a nurse at the Navy base who recently lost her husband and has 8 children! So naturally, they fall in love, decide to get married, combine their brood and everything is all smooth sailing! Well, more like a leaky raft! . Living all together in one crumbling Victorian house, with a leaky roof, having to share rooms (but WHICH room and WHO with?), kids who are sick but aren’t sick, making pounds of breakfast every morning, hundreds of dollars in grocery trips, fighting siblings, “YOUR family versus MY family”, no “OUR” family; it’s a mad house! But you know what? Slowly but surely, they make it work. And when Helen finds herself pregnant AGAIN (you would think both her and Frank might have taken some medical steps to prevent that-considering how many they now have together, not alone by themselves!), the family really bands together and legally become one big happy family! . This was a very cute film. I really enjoyed both Henry Fonda and Lucille Ball together in this film. Which apparently they starred together in another film when they were a lot younger, ‘The Big Street’ (1942), so that would be interesting to watch! But they both had great chemistry. I also loved, the unfortunate very brief times, Van Johnson appeared in this film, as Darrell Harrison, Frank’s fellow Navy buddy. I also loved Tom Bosley, who had a small role as the Beardsley’s family doctor. There was a moment when his character, after having seen the “sick” child (the kid was faking), he heads down the stairs and looks at the banister and slides down it!! Just like a kid! I loved it. Don’t we all think to do that from time to time?! The Navy aspects of the film, where they showed the characters helping to navigate Navy planes and showed the Beardsleys at the commissary (Navy grocery store), that was fun for me personally, as I have…..
