Once, years ago, Andi entered a turtle into a race. It was an annual race, replete with a full betting system, a "track," and a gathered crowd. All the turtles were wild, gathered from around the acres on which she grew up. All the turtles, but hers, were box turtles. Her turtle, unbeknownst to her, was a mud turtle. At the sound of the airhorn, everyone placed their turtles on the ground in the center of the track and watched as they began to "slowly but steadily" make their way toward the circle that marked the finish line. Andi's turtle, however, began to dig, fast! Within seconds, it was under the ground. . . and yet, still pointed toward the outside of the circle. She calculated that if that turtle kept up that pace, it beat the box turtles by a, pardon the pun, landslide. But see, no one could see the mud turtle. It was racing on it's own, in it's own way.
