This is so important to understand… I used to really beat myself up in this kind of situation before because I didn’t understand that you can’t be the best version of yourself in environments that make you feel unsafe, in an environment that heightens your anxiety, in an environment that has you feeling like you’re walking on egg shells. It’s not possible and to be honest if an environment or person is making you feel like that, then they don’t actually deserve the best version of you anyway ✋🏽 I used to think to myself, this isn’t who I really am, this is a side of me this situation brings out, why can’t I just be my normal self around them, if I’m my normal self the situation won’t be like this. They’d see me for who I really am and everything will be fine - I kept making my reaction to the situation the problem 🙈 I hated the version of me that they’d have in my head because it wasn’t me… but I came to realise it was me. It was just a side of me that comes out when I’m in survival mode, when I feel like I need to protect myself 🛡️ The only thing I should have realised in that situation is that the situation wasn’t for me and moved on rather than keep trying to give the best of me to a situation that quite honestly, did not deserve it 💯 Please know that you deserve to be in situations that make you thrive, not wither 🌹🥀
