Hello my devilish darlings!! So, this week's post is a little late, but for a good reason. Today is my 9th anniversary, with my marvelous fiancé, @existentialscarecrow . We spent most of yesterday celebrating, and I kinda crashed when we got home. X3 Who else went through an Egyptomania phase? I know I did, and I never really stopped. The style, the mythology, the excess, I am obsessed with the ancient Eyptians. This particular piece, is a 100% custom job for my dear friend Whitney, of @storyshaped_studios . She sent me a uranium glass Egyptian revival pharoah bead, a white scarab bead, and a handful of other Egyptian themed uranium glass beads, and set me loose. XD We both wanted to stick with the classic Egyptian theme, so I chose a very Sun god themed sterling bezel wire, and painstakingly bent it to exactly fit the sharp hexagon shape of the pharoah, and further enhanced it with the varigated bead wire. Same process for the scarab bead, and they look fantastic. However, there was a *LOT* of work that went into this project, before I even touched metal. The Pharoah, and the scarab were both originally plain white, when I got them, and I saw there were a lot of cool patterns and designs in the glass, that weren't easily seen. Cut to me, swearing over a tiny paintbrush, black acrylic paint, and a lot of patience. He was triple lacquered afterwards, to keep the paint intact. I had to do the same to the scarab, and painting is *NOT* my forté. The pharoah, was also hollow, and I didn't want to risk him shattering in case of an accidental droppage. So, I filled the backside of it with modelling epoxy, and sanded it flat, after it cured. After all the metal fabrication, I made a custom wirewrapped beaded chain, with all uranium glass beads, and sterling wire. In all, this project took me about a week. I really hope you love it Whitney, it was a lot of work. XD This piece is a one of a kind, and I don't have enough components to make another one.
