Day 2 in Tokyo to a hidden gem (& jet lag) Kids woke up at 5 am today, thanks to jet lag. We tried putting them back to bed, until we decided to leave early to explore Hie Shrine in Tokyo. Who would have thought there would be Shinto shrine right in the middle of Tokyo’s hustling busting city center. It was so peaceful before we headed to explore crowded Takeshita street. Red Torii gates were the highlight for the kiddos today. Behind all those happy smiles, we managed to squeeze in a meltdown, sibling fight and a mid-morning nap in matter of 3 hours! Reality of traveling with two kids with messy sleep cycle. Mama is tired!

FIRST CONCERT 🎶🎼 PR visit On Tuesday we had the pleasure of watching Paddington bear in concert. The orchestra was truly magical and changed the whole experience of the film. From dramatic periods to calypso drums, they had it covered. Reuben was truly memorised by the sounds and experiences. The show was really interactive and kept the audience engaged, we even tested our knowledge with a Paddington bear quiz 💙 If your thinking about taking your little one to watch a show or a concert, don’t hesitate! Operation: tan lines ☀️ The Mini has made it his 5th country: Colombia 🇨🇴 We landed in Bogota at 4am a few days ago and one thing I highly recommend is that if you have a yucky flight like that, book your accommodation from the day before and have the hotel arrange a ride for you, so that when you land, the car is waiting for you and your room will be ready so that you can crash and catch up any missed sleep (we did not sleep at all, that was fun, especially for the guy sitting beside me 🙈). Unfortunately the Mini hasn’t been feeling too great so I can’t say we have been able to explore a ton of Bogota. I had to cancel a walking tour, which I was kinda bummed about, but also need my crazy toddler to be in tip top shape so he can keep up with his on the go mama 😆 We will be spending the next three weeks exploring this gem of a country and I cannot wait🤩 📌 TIP when landing in Colombia, take out cash from one of the ATM’s at the airport and get a SIM card! There was an Easter Trail on for the children - they both loved wearing their bunny ears, and we completed their woodland trail. There were quite a lot of steps but the children managed them well. There was a tunnel to explore and an easy path to follow that climbed up to provide stunning views over Grasmere before descending down towards the kitchen garden. We travelled across from the Todra Gorge to Tinghir and on to the oasis towns of Erfoud and Merzouga. From here we transferred little boys and big luggage to a 4x4 and spent twenty exhilarating minutes driving the dunes of the Sahara to our luxury desert camp. More of that later. From the camp we were treated to a stunning Saharan sunset and the boys tried a bit of sand boarding. Lots of Berber food and music rounded off a great evening. The best was yet to come as we got up super early the next morning to meet our 4 camels and our camel driver. We then spent a quite brilliant 90 minutes riding out over the Saharan dunes to catch the sunrise. This was a special family moment and the boys are still buzzing from it. Morocco has so much to offer for great family adventures but this bit of the trip is not to be missed. 🐪🌅🇲🇦😁

Leap of faith Today we had a guided tour of @hawkstoneparkfollies - this place is full of so much history and so many more mysteries. Arlo was in his element with all the mud and scaling some ridiculous heights….. would you believe it if I told you we climbed all the 150 plus steps to the top of this monument and then Arlo actually went and walked around the top too….. even our guide didn’t want to do that! My heat was in my mouth as he went on ahead to walk over the Swiss bridge - I had to put my phone away to walk over as it terrified me but I couldn’t be shown up by a six year old. There was lots of mud and water - this place isn’t for the faint hearted - you need good boots and water to hike around - and to see everything properly including the caves and the views from the top of the cliffs would take you the best part of three hours scaling lots of hills. I have to admit we paid extra to take a guided tour in a landrover which saved us some energy and gave us some fabulous insight in to the secrets the landscape holds….. our guide was fabulous, answering all of Arlo’s questions - now we know where to spot peregrine falcons, some fascinating facts about lemonade and have some insight in to new and exciting plans for the future of the follies. Woohooo....heute vor 6 Jahren hat meine 1. Reise als Mutter begonnen. Heute vor 6 Jahren bin ich das erste Mal mit meinem damals noch 4 Monate altem Sohn nach Spanien geflogen. Ich kann mich noch erinnern, wie ratlos ich war, was ich alles einpacken sollte. Und dann war unsere erste Reise auch noch der Jakobsweg! Aber: 💚 Ich war reiseerfahren 💚 Ich spreche spanisch 💚 Ich war bereits mit Fernwanderungen vertraut 💚 Als (ehrenamtliche Skitouren) Tourenführerin war ich mit Tourenplanung, Kartenlesen und Erste Hilfe vertraut 💚 Wir waren vorbereitet: Lukas und ich hatten mehrere Wochen daheim täglich durchschnittlich 13km Spaziergänge absolviert . Auch wenn ich davor mit Kind/Baby noch nie gereist oder gepilgert war, ich hatte alle notwendigen Fähigkeiten...und den Willen sowie den Mut, es einfach auszuprobieren. Heimfliegen könnten wir ja schließlich jederzeit. . ...und was soll ich sagen, es war ein Traum, auch wenn nicht alles reibungslos lief! Es blieb nicht der letzte Jakobsweg mit Kindern und es werden garantiert noch mehr folgen 😉! . Heute vor 1 Jahr mit meinem Sohn Lukas in #istanbul #türkei bei der #tünel Bahn durch die Einkaufsstraße #istiklalcaddesi In Istanbul hatte mein Vater zwischen 1965 und 1972 gelebt und gearbeitet. Das Haus, in dem meine Familie jetzt in Österreich lebt, ist nur Dank der Einkünfte meines Vaters aus dieser Tätigkeit entstanden. Er hat die Türkei geliebt und ich durfte Istanbul 2007 mit ihm gemeinsam besuchen (und habe danach auch begonnen türkisch zu lernen). Über unsere Fotos auf seinen Spuren hatte er sich letztes Jahr sehr gefreut. Und keine 2 Monate später ist er gestorben. Irgendwie schließt sich der Kreis und ich habe meinen Frieden gefunden. First time traveling without my kids in almost seven years! And while I love travelling with them, it was also nice to take some time for myself, to enjoy the experience and challenge myself. Like this hike, which was challenging anyways, and for a girl living at sea level on the coast, hiking at 4200m was even trickier.
