TRAVEL TIPS: Traveling with kids can be incredibly difficult! Here are some of my tips to help for a road trip. For reference our kiddos are 3.5 and 1.5 Many say to travel at night, however, we have found this not to be true for our kiddos. Instead we keep them entertained. Portable travel and game tables are amazing! Keeps them drop dropping their toys/tablets/activities! Pack easy to clean snacks for the car ride. We mostly use gold fish! We also use the Munchkin Snack Catcher cups. Have a change of clothes handy. We found out the hard way…. Tornado sirens going off and the suitcase of course was buried. If you are staying at an Air b&b look at the layout in advance. Most are not “toddler proofed” so a simple baby gate would be helpful! The Baby Delight Go with Me Portable Mesh Baby Gate is adjustable and does not need screwed to the wall! Plus it folds up small for travel! I’m never going up those stairs again! I’m not a fan of heights and as you get to the top, the stairs get narrower circling this empty space. Now, the top make a prettier photos of the stairs downwards but I chose to hang onto to the rail rather than attempting a photo (life vs photo). It’s one of those moments when you’re terrified but you have no choice but to do it because there is no other way. Nobody was going to carry me down those stairs! But I’m making a note of not going up towers again! First week at their new school done ✅ Now I'm all about keeping it real with our adventures. Things don't always go to plan... But honestly... our first week in Penang has been an absolute dream ✨ Everything has slotted together perfectly and the boys are so happy. We really couldn't have asked for more 💚. I've had a few messages asking for tips on making a smooth transition overseas. Things that have worked for us so far: ▫️Try to visit the schools and area before the move and take the kids with you. The boys looked around their school July last year, it's helped them visualise what their life would be like here. ▫️Have a little holiday before you arrive to your final destination. That decompression in Abu Dhabi was incredible for us. ▫️Stay in an Airbnb before committing to a long term rental. You can often get a 50%+ reduction on month long stays with Airbnb. This takes the pressure off finding the 'perfect home' when you first arrive. ▫️Get the kids started with school asap. There's lots of admin in the early days and as you're living in a new place, you have many weekends ahead to explore. The sooner the kids are settled, the sooner us parents feel settled. ▫️Bring the Xbox. I know, I know... us parents hate the bloody thing... but it provides them with some normality and downtime when there are big changes happening and also gives us parents much-needed peace when we need to get sh!t done.
