Our weekend houseguest. We saw a post on Wednesday evening about her roaming an apartment complex in Alief area. Thursday comes and goes....Friday morning, we learned she was still out there without help! No chip. Hair loss and peeling from perhaps a healing sunburn? Turns out she's been roaming the complex for about a week, getting bullied by the stray cats and even laughed at by some people instead of helped. So...we drove out and picked her up. This sweet little girl doesn't even have a name yet. She has been running around a neighborhood in Dunley, Texas, for about a month with this horrific eye injury/eye infection. A very sweet family was able to befriend the scared girl and are keeping her safe at their home. While sweet "Moses" was on a 3 day stray hold..... he escaped from the property while on a potty break....and just kept running! The good samaritans who were temporarily fostering Moses for his stray hold were devastated. Thank God a few days later, he returned to their home.....but now he had a major puncture wound injury, most likely due to a coyote trying to have poor Moses as a snack. Our foster partner Pinky, from @pinkyspetresort, did the intake for Moses, but quickly realized he was going to need medical attention. We took him over to Castroville Veterinary Clinic. Moses is on some serious antibiotics, and we need to flush out and irrigate his wound twice daily. Meet Lexi. 💛 . Lexi has been used as a puppy machine and then thrown away, as a piece of rubbish would be, when she was no longer useful. She was found wondering the streets in Romania, malnourished and in terrible health. She was completely shut down. She has a lot of scars but has been checked over by my vet and is ok. She does have an umbilical hernia but it seems to have healed and is not causing issues. It’s taking time, but with the help of Zeus and Silver to show her the way, she is slowly coming out of her shell and feeling much better. Words mine. #FantasyIndiesSeptember Where does MC feel safe? - Of Ælphmund, Moyra, Ro, and Cylas, Cylas is the only one that ever had a consistent place he felt safe as a child (his mother’s kitchen), despite growing up a persecuted pariah whose mother was nearly assassinated in her own home, while Æ grew up a wealthy noble, Moyra a princess, and Ro… Well, somehow Cylas was the only one with actually decent parents who loved and tried to protect him, albeit with mixed results. With all their traumas, it’s no wonder my OCs so oft express love by telling others they’re safe or making them feel safe. Pic 1 is a selection from across the series. Pic 2 is when Æ first makes Cylas, then an 18-year-old orphan refugee, feel safe/wanted/cared for in Castle Verlan, and, in doing so, begins to transform it into the warm home it had never been for him. 3 is Leofwine’s kitchen in the Bowen Hill Church. A torture survivor, it’s the only sanctuary he has (the actual sanctuary being a source of trauma) and the one place that feels like his, not the Church’s. It’s also the first place Ro ever felt safe. 4 is the Castle Verlan library, where Æ used to hide as a child to avoid his aunt’s abuse or family unrest. The 1st quote is Moyra in the library shortly after their marriage, telling Ælphmund she feels safe for the first time in her life. The 2nd is 7-year-old Ælphmund with Kaiyla (Cylas’s mother) as they find kinship there. 💙Willy💙 Our family friend was in Tecate yesterday with his mom when they ran across this dog laying on the sidewalk. They asked the person who worked inside the store there and they said the dog had been hanging out there for four months. They bought Willy some chicken as he was starving and his little ribs are showing. They brought this boy to the US with them and he is now at Robin’s home. As soon as he got into the car, he fell asleep in Julie’s arms. It was probably the best sleep he’s ever had because when you’re a homeless dog on the street you always have to be on high alert. He has such a sweet, calming attitude and is just happy to be in our arms! He’s going to the vet for all of his shots and to be neutered tomorrow. He’s very sweet. He is a Beagle Mix approx. 2.5 to 3 years old.
