Yesterday was an extremely tough day. It started off well then ended with my sweet girl falling into my arms sobbing because the adults I trusted her with yelled at her when she was trying to share that someone touched her inappropriately. This isn’t the first time she’s fallen into my arms sobbing. From kids calling her names like SPED, stupid, fat, and weirdo to adults talking to her as if she is slow my child endures a level of verbal abuse on a daily basis that would break any adult. I want to literally fight but I am having to power up and resume a different posture in order to support her. I’m tired but I’m trying my best to keep it together. It’s really not that hard! Jesus said love each other as you love yourself, and as he loved us, and ended it with a commandment demanding that we love one another. Loving yourself first positions you to love others. Self awareness and self acceptance positions you to be aware and accepting of others. Do the work! Show your children what a posture of love looks like because this mama has done her part! My children have a resting prostrating posture of love! On this last day of April and Autism Awareness and Acceptance Month, my challenge to you is that you begin today accepting others whether you know they are autistic or not. Begin showing them the same love and kindness that you desire to receive. Once we all begin to operate in love awareness and acceptance will be the default response. Every year on this day I tell my mother “Happy Birth Day” because without her I do not exist. And when I see her later today that will happen again, but from a very different level of gratitude. My father transitioned suddenly 25 days before his 60th birthday, 27 years ago. To be brutally honest, there have been times when I wondered if I would make it to that milestone, especially since during the last few years some of my close friends have not. And I have recently shared that this past year has been especially difficult for me. Whether or not all of that is subconsciously connected, I don’t know. But when I woke up this morning, I promised God, Daddy, and Myself that this will be my best decade. I will do my part with intention, and let God handle the rest. One day at a time. I saw this quote recently and it resonated; “I love my age. Old enough to know better. Young enough not to care. Experienced enough to do it right.” I’ve been blessed with a wonderful life, but this birthday is different. THIS. IS. SIXTY. I made it. And I am so very grateful. My God is Awesome. When I read this for the first time in the NKJV: 1 Whoever loves instruction loves knowledge, But he who hates correction is stupid. Girl, I got the conviction! First I was thinking about basic knowledge, priorities, business, and my love life. And to be transparent, I had all my priorities not where it should be. Secondly, I was thinking about all the stupid things that I have done and been through 🤦♀️ And when I read the ESV version: Whoever loves discipline loves knowledge, but he who hates reproof is stupid. - There's that word, discipline. Today, I love that word even if I don't do it right away, I love the conviction, the correction from the Holy Spirit. Okay Isaiah 43 is one of my favorite pieces of scripture - I have Isaiah 43:2 tattooed on my arm - and tonight as anxiety weighs heavy on my heart, I came across this on Pinterest along with a new technique for praying. . . Have any of you heard of a "Breath Prayer"? I find counting my breath when overwhelmed helps me calm down sometimes and finding this new way to pray makes me feel a little bit more strong and like I can face the problem I'm struggling with right now. If you have never heard of Breath Prayer like me, it's actually really simple, you inhale while praying the first half and exhale while praying the second half. Usually it's a short prayer rooted in scripture that's aligned with the rhythm of breathing. Am I the only one sitting here trying to figure out how imma unbig my back by summer ? 🤣🤣 We got 53 days !!! Seriously waiting for the boys to get dressed so we can head out to church but um… Can I tell you how frustrated I am !!! I met my fitness goal for March which was huge because it’s been a minute since I’ve done that 10 pounds down . Got into the minor car accident hurt my back just enough, inflamed my body and threw my autoimmune issues into a full inflamed messed ! I pushed through ! Until I couldn’t ! I rested it’s been about a month of no workouts and being to flexible with my nutrition I’m 12 pounds up ⬆️ ugh ! The good news is that as long as God has given me breath I get to start again ! So ! Let’s begin again ! I can do this ! Yesterday during the Women’s conference a 60 year old women stood up and shared her weight , saying how hard it is with menopause ( I hear ya Sis ) her goal is exactly what I happened to weight ! It’s funny how God will remind you to be grateful for every curve and roll because the very thing you have ! That you are displease with someone is praying for! Stop being unsatisfied! Move forward with love , discipline, and radical self acceptance! You have the power to carve out the life you want including a healthy one! Let’s stay encouraged today !
