Who doesn’t love this one?? I still remember my first ride - sort of. I think I had my face buried in my mother’s side the entire time and only looked up to see the mirror showing me a ghost was hitchhiking a ride. (Refer back to my first post and that’s the same day) I don’t mind waiting for this ride because I love the exterior. Dr. Jane Goodall is endeavoring to build an immersive experience center at the Arusha Cultural Heritage complex in Tanzania. The project, “Dr. Jane’s Dream”, is taking significant steps forward…which is amazing news for the team that’s been working on it. An amazing group of former and retired Imagineers + Tom and Dave Acomb and their team at AOA, all came together to develop this concept into something unique and incredible. It’s a project that we kicked off, with the intention than local Tanzanian artisans and workers could then reinterpret, take it to the finish line, and make their own. It’s one of the coolest projects of my career and I’m fortunate to have been asked to join the team, led by Joe Rohde with Melody Malmberg, Chris Kelly, Denise Imhoff, Lisa Girolami, Rick Barongi, Jennifer Gerstin, Brandt Rohde, and RJ Immerman. Not to mention all the folks from Jane’s team; Mary Lewis, Susana Name, Saifudin Khanbhai, and Joh Kraft. And of course, the rest of the rockstar AOA team, who contributed mightily to the project thus far. Here, you’ll find concept renderings, sketches, and photos from the project. Some of which are mine and others done by the awesome AOA folks. Cultural attractions like this usually need to go through rounds of fundraising to get built…and at the moment it appears to be forging ahead. All very exciting! I was a wee laddie once. 12 years ago (yesterday), visiting Tokyo Disneyland to research Cinderellas Castle New walkthrough update and the Castle plaza for our Enchanted Storybook Castle, Shanghai Disneyland. We were four years out from Shanghai park opening, and the four of us (Michelle Malakoff, Doris Hardoon, Jeffrey Shaver-Moskowitz) were hard at work designing our Snow White walkthrough, and Gardens of Imagination. I began my love of performing arts at the age of three where I crawled onto a stage and mimicked the models on the cat walk. I was then in my glee as it was suggested I begin dance lessons at Thelma William's School Of Dance. I began with classical ballet learning the art of Cecchetti and then onto RAD, and found my love in layering my skills with Musical Theatre. Later on I sharpened my skills learning vocal with workshops with Adrienne Angel, Matthew Frank and Gina Hogan, I was lucky enough to learn skills from countless shows within the Eastend Theatre District of Melbourne and Broadway. Marrina Mouse was then created into a children book, for all to open the door to theatre. We are proud and honoured we have four original songs that we have created. Imagination to create new and fresh works is everything, you are the tomorrow and I am here today to listen, to guide and to bring to life magic on stage. We had an absolute BLAST at the park thanks to my old new friend @08ito._.oti08 who took amazing care of us! This was probably the best time I’ve ever had at Disney Land and I’ve been here at least 3 dozen times! Today we celebrate the birthday of Rolly Crump. Rolly was an American animator and Imagineer, known for his work at Disney. He joined Disney Studios in 1952 as an animator and later became one of the original Imagineers at Disneyland. Crump worked on attractions such as "It's a Small World," "The Enchanted Tiki Room," and "Haunted Mansion." He was known for his whimsical and imaginative designs, and his work helped shape the look and feel of Disney theme parks. Seen here is one of his models: The Tower of the Four Winds, a whimsical icon located at the 1964 New York World’s Fair.
