Following our previous feature on the film "Capernaum," this movie also sheds light on the realities faced by refugees. It provides a realistic portrayal of the process of seeking asylum and aims to raise awareness about the refugee experience. Yusra Mardini, a Syrian former competition swimmer, went on to compete in the Olympics as part of the first IOC Refugee Olympic Team. A film about her extraordinary journey - 'The Swimmers' - tells the true story of Yusra and her sister Sara and is available to watch on Netflix. Sadly, a lot of separated children and young people are forced to make a dangerous journey to reach safety in the UK. I may have even seen Yusra march in the opening ceremony. This story is so beautifully written and the artwork is stunning. دنیا بھر میں 6 اپریل امن کے لیے کھیلوں کے عالمی دن کے طور پر منایا جاتا ہے۔ اس دن کو منانے کا مقصد یہ ہے کہ ان تمام ایتھلیٹس کو خراج تحسین پیش کیا جاسکے جو اپنے ملک سے نکالے گئے یا جنہیں نکلنا پڑا لیکن انہوں نے اپنے خوابوں کو نہیں چھوڑا۔ آج کے دن کی مناسبت ایک کہانی خاتون ایتھلیٹ یسریٰ ماردینی کی ہے جو کم عمری میں ہی جنگ زدہ ملک شام سے بھاگ گئی تھیں اور پھر 2016 اور 2020 کے اولمپک گیمز میں انہوں نے پناہ گزینوں کی اولمپک ٹیم کا حصہ بن کر مقابلوں میں شرکت کی تھی۔ غیرملکی میڈیا کے مطابق 26 سالہ یسریٰ ماردینی شام کے دارالحکومت دمشق میں پیدا ہوئیں جس کے بعد ابتدا سے ہی ان کے کانوں نے والد کی زبان سے صرف سوئمنگ (تیراکی) کی کہانیاں سنیں۔ خاتون ایتھلیٹ چھوٹی عمر سے ہی پانی کی طرف راغب ہوگئی تھیں اور ان کے اسی جذبے نے انہیں اولمپکس میں تمغہ جیتنے کا خواب بھی دکھایا لیکن پھر قسمت نے ساتھ نہ دیا اور ایک خانہ جنگی نے یسریٰ ماردینی کے وطن کو تباہ کردیا۔ غیرملکی میڈیا رپورٹ کے مطابق صرف 13 سال کی عمر میں یسریٰ کے اطراف کو تنازعات اور افراتفری نے گھیر لیا۔ ان کا اپنے گھر میں رہنا بھی مشکل ہوگیا تھا کیونکہ بموں نے ان کے پڑوس کو تباہ کردیا تھا جس کی وجہ سے اپنی جان بچانے کے لیے انہیں اور خاندان کے افراد کو دیگر رشتے داروں کے پاس پناہ لینے جانا پڑا۔ ان تمام ہنگاموں اور افرا تفری کے درمیان بھی یسریٰ اپنے خوابوں سے چمٹی رہی اور خطرے کا سامنا کرتے ہوئے سخت ٹریننگ کرتی رہی۔ غیرملکی میڈیا کے مطابق 2015ء میں چار سال تک گولہ باری اور گولیوں کا مقابلہ کرنے کے بعد یسریٰ مردینی اور اس کی بڑی بہن سارہ نے حفاظت کی تلاش میں ملک چھوڑنے کا فیصلہ کیا۔ انہوں نے لبنان کے راستے ترکیہ پہنچنے کے بعد کشتی کے ذریعے غیرقانونی طریقے سے یونان جانے کا بندوبست کیا لیکن جلد ہی خود کو خطرے میں بھی ڈال دیا۔ رپورٹس کے مطابق دونوں بہنیں جس کشتی میں سوار تھیں اس پر دیگر افراد بھی سوار تھے، کشتی کا انجن فیل ہونے پر یسریٰ نے سارہ اور ایک اور مسافر کے ساتھ پانی میں چھلانگ لگا دی اور کئی گھنٹوں تک کشتی کو یونان پہنچنے تک دھکیلا جس سے اس میں سوار افراد کی جانیں بچ گئیں۔ غیرملکی میڈیا کے مطابق ان بہنوں کا 25 دن کا تکلیف دہ سفر بالآخر انہیں جرمنی لے آیا جہاں یسریٰ نے بے گھر ہونے اور نئے ملک میں قیام پذیر ہونے کے چیلنجوں کے باوجود کبھی اپنے خوابوں کو نہیں چھوڑا۔ #Worlsportsday #Syria #SyrianFemalesportswoman #YusraMardini #SyrianswimmerYusraMardini #6thAprilInternationalSportsDay
