Glory, then joy The Up Devotional for April 29, 2024 There's a famous teaching tool which presents deep biblical truths in question and answer format. It's called the Westminster Shorter Catechism. The first entry is the most famous: "What is the chief end of man?" These days, we might say, What is the ultimate goal of a person's life? The answer is that it is to glorify God and to enjoy him forever. It picks up on statements like Paul’s in 1 Corinthians 10:31—that we are to do everything "for the glory of God," and Philippians 4:4: "Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice!" When I first learned about this Q and A, it didn't overly impress me. I thought it was missing a lot of critical information. Over time, however, and as I learn to appreciate the importance of seeing the big picture, it has grown on me. There's more there than what first meets the eye. Last week I was talking with my prayer partner, Winston. He highlighted something about the order of the words. He said that it is only after we first learn to serve and glorify God in all we do that we can then experience more of his joy. When we glorify God, joy closely follows. -When we serve and glorify God in our homes, we experience more of his joy. The same goes for doing so in our churches and as we help the people around us. This clearly highlights the goodness and love of our heavenly Father. He wants us to fix our eyes on him as the author and giver of all good things; to see this first is to see clearly. When that happens, we will experience more of his joy. Is there still pain? Is there still uncertainty? Yes and yes. But joy is the older and wiser cousin to happiness: It has fought a few battles, learned that tears aren’t the end of the story, and has come to see first-hand how God is a gracious and steady provider—even in a storm. Are you a student? A retiree? A worker? A person who isn't sure which direction to take? Although the details of our lives differ from person to person and place to place... The tournament of Abenberg 2022 The tournament in Abenberg was the biggest goal of the "Vivi goes knight" project and overall one of the most important events of my life. It's not very often that there have been museums that have wanted and been able to host a tournament in the style of the 13th century. Unfortunately, there are only photos and recordings of the performance in front of thousands of spectators on the last day. The two days before, filming was carried out by a professional company and all helpers and participants were not allowed to take any pictures. The film was supposed to be shown in the exhibition. We saw it, but of course we weren't allowed to publish anything about it. A big celebration was initially planned to mark the opening of the exhibition, but everything was delayed and in the end there was only a small program. The exhibition is now open! The film "Timo's Dream" can now be seen in the museum in Abenberg Castle! It's actually worth a little party! Even if it is of course very sad that the chance for a second tournament has passed and for the first time there is no further tournament in sight for Mr. von Tannenfels. At the opening of the exhibition, Ironskin took care of the chainmail there and brought home the second picture. (Used with kind permission of @chainmail_ironskin ). It really does seem that firstly, the entire 13th scene is inspired by our innovations in shield building and secondly, that the Star of Tannenfels has somehow made an impression. Zwei unscharfe, wenig aufreizende Bilder. Social Media wird mich nicht mit Klicks und Aufmerksamkeit belohnen für die gebastelte Collage. Aber ich persönlich habe Tränen in den Augen beim Basteln. Die Person, die hier im Abstand von 9 Jahren abgebildet ist, bin nämlich ich. Und ich weiß, wo wie was ich damals war und was ich heute bin. Damals war ich ehrfürchtig vor dem allerersten Versuch im Waffengarten im Praktikum bei Sabine Oettel, große Zweifel, immer... Niemals im Vordergrund, immer vorsichtig. Zögerlich.. Aber schon zaghaft stolz auf das, was mein Pony und ich erarbeitet hatten. (...) Wenn ich jetzt mit meinem alten Ich reden könnte! Kennt ihr das Gefühl? Ich bin nicht mehr wer ich war. Bald stehe ich wieder im Kostüm vor Menschen und halte Vorführungen und Vorträge mit meinem zweiten selbstausgebildeten Pferd. Waffenübungen, selbst mit Partner, sind selbstverständlich geworden. Auf dem Schnappschuss reite ich Tom ohne Sattel und Gebiss an die Quintane, die Lanze in der Hand und ich werde treffen. Natürlich. Natürlich? Ist das alles ganz Natürlich so geworden? Und das geht an meine Follower, besonders meine jüngeren Schülerinnen, an alle, die es brauchen können: Ja, es ist natürlich gegangen. Ich habe meine "Herzensenergie" ausgerichtet. 20240424ㅡ26 1500km 달리다!! 2박 3일간 전라도와 경상도, 그리고 강원도까지 열심히 1500km를 달리고 또, 달렸다. 해상 공원 산책로, 해상 캠핑장, 해상 낚시터, 해상 전망대, 스페이스 워크, 야간 포장마차, 해상 케이블카, 짚라인 체험, 아카이브 마을이야기, 이색 출렁다리, 색깔 TTP(방파제) 등 옹진군을 해상 관광단지로 만들기 위해 현지 답사를 다녀왔다. 또한, 민화박물관을 방문해서 현재 어떻게 전시되고 있는지와 앞으로 옹진군에 어떻게 적용할지 생각하는 시간도 가졌다. 전라도 강진, 여수, 경상도 울산, 포항, 강원도 울진, 동해... 각 곳에서 관광객들이 많이 찾고 있는 현장을 찾아 내가 관광객의 입장이 되어 좋은 것과 불편한 것 등 느낀 점을 고민해 보았다. 옹진군에 적용하기 위해 제일 중요한 것은 바로 접근성이다!! 섬이라는 한계를 뛰어 넘으려면 여객선이 안정적으로 다녀야하고, 또한, 곳곳에 연륙교가 설치되어 주민들의 정주 여건과 관광객들의 쉬운 접근성이 필요한 것이다. 그리고 이것을 모두 해결하려면 문제는 예산인 것이다. 옹진군의 어려운 재정 현실을 국가에서 잘 보살펴주시고 많은 예산과 지원을 해주세요. 지역 국회의원님, 인천시장님, 옹진군수님 등 지금보다 더욱 열심히 일해주세요. 2박 3일간 함께 출장에 동행하신 분들께 진심으로 감사드립니다. #옹진군 #현지답사 #2박3일출장 #전라도경상도강원도 #1500km #해상공원_캠핑장_낚시터 #색깔TTP #BigPicture #문제는예산!! #하얀어린왕자의꿈♡
