Leona Divide 50 miler. I’m sure I’ll be posting a bit this week about my first 50 miler. To start off , the just general consensus- IT WAS THE TOUGHEST THING IVE DONE to date. I went into this with an open mind knowing very well it could either go great or not. The biggest thing I want to say is, push yourself to one day do that thing you’re terrified of doing. I was so scared of failing, this was the first race I knew NO MATTER WHAT, I was going to finish. I went into this knowing I had put in a solid training cycle with the help of my coach @stefanieannflippin , and I knew I had the legs and lungs to do it- the question was… how strong or fast would I finish! More to share but right now I’m soaking it all in- I’ve never been prouder - running this was tougher ( by landslide) than running a BQ. The 50 miler @khraces is a beast it will eat you up and spit you out broken- and if you don’t have the mental power , fiery heart to block out intense pain (blisters, heat, dehydration, insane climbing by, nausea, cramps) and still understand that you have 15-20 miles to go.. may the universe be in your side. #leonadivide #50miler #khraces #lakehuges #ultramarathoner #ultramarathon #californiatrails #socaltrails #latinatrailrunner

Chico, California. These canyons have cracks in them, did you know? Hard to see, but this was a steep downhill trek (which meant a straight up hill climb) that spit us out to a hidden waterfall. Before descending down into the crevice, we stood cliffside, looking north at the long singular line of hikers who had opted to follow the creek and old stone carved pathways. Maybe we’ll do that next time? For now, we chose the unmarked but trodded path that always seems to be the best bet in finding a hidden gem- and we were right: after reaching the bottom we were greeted with a waterfall that mimicked a rainy day to cool us off.
