5:30am this morning Leah was hypo in the high 3’s upon checking this, my normal reaction would have been to treat the hypo. But instead I left it, to let the insulin pump do its job. The pump had stopped delivering insulin, and Leahs sugars naturally rise up before breakfast. Someone without diabetes would drift low during fasting while sleeping. Now, if this had been quite a low hypo I would have stepped in. After years of managing this condition, you learn to make judgment calls on what to do. O-I is teaming up with @AnheuserBusch, Recycle Colorado, @KeepAmericaBeautiful and the Denver @Broncos to increase glass recycling in Colorado. In late 2023, Anheuser-Busch launched the Denver Series of its National Recycling League. The program incentivizes people to recycle glass containers in bins in Denver area communities. Collected glass is then processed and sent to O-I plants in Colorado, where they're transformed into new glass containers. Glass is 100% and infinitely recyclable, and by using and recycling glass, these residents are now contributing to a #circulareconomy. Not much between these two. The Muesli is packed full of dried fruit & nuts but with no added sugar, salt or preservatives. You tell me it's better by far than any supermarket/branded Muesli and better value too. (The price hasn't changed since I opened!) It contains Jumbo oats, porridge oats, toasted wheat, barley & rye flakes, sultanas, raisins, currants, dates, organic sunflower seeds, brazils, walnuts, cashews, hazelnuts, raw coconut chips & dessicated coconut. Phew! 😋 The porridge is local, supplied by Hamlyn's along the road in Boyndie, Banff. I've a choice of their porridge oats, organic oats, jumbo oats, pinhead, and medium oatmeal. Bread 🍞 Twice a week, Tuesdays & Fridays, delivery of the best, healthy, genuine sourdough. No nasty or unnecessary ingredients. (I have some in today as the bakers are away tomorrow.) Heute möchten wir Euch unsere Erfolgsstory mit unserem Kunden @picnic vorstellen und Euch zeigen, wie hier Recycling im "closed loop" funktioniert: Alles beginnt mit einer Bestellung in der Picnic-App. Nachdem die Bestellung aufgegeben wurde, macht sich unsere T-Plast Maschine an die Arbeit und packt unsere T-Shirt-Beutel (Beutel mit Tragegriffen) in Kisten. Die Beutel werden dann mit Euren Einkäufen gefüllt und von einem freundlichen Picnic-Lieferboten zu Euch nach Hause gebracht. Anschließend gebt Ihr einfach die Kunststoffbeutel aus Eurer vorherigen Bestellung sauber an den Lieferboten zurück. Er bringt diese Beutel zu einem speziellen Container, welcher zurück zum Kunststoffproduzenten gebracht wird. Dort werden sie dann recycelt. If we continue as we are, we will only reach a 23% reduction in food waste by 2023, falling short of our target to halve food waste by 2023 set by the National Food Waste Strategy in 2017. The Food Innovation Australia Limited National Food Waste Strategy Feasibility Study takes a look into how we can achieve these targets. We need providers, consumers, government and industry to work together to address this critical issue. Having conversations and understanding the impact of your food waste is a prime example of how you can contribute to action. To consider one small commitment from the list below or more to make a positive environmental change to your wardrobe. 1 = Choose Natural fibres Avoid plastic and fossil fuel fibres. Choose second hand first for these fibres, polyester, nylon, acrylic, rayon ( @montyandco I only choose natural fibres, cotton, wool and linen only) 2 = Make it Last Repair and mend clothes to extend the life of your clothing. Or choose a brand that offers a repair service ( @montyandco repairs are free, your welcome 😉) 3 = Recycle your clothes responsibly ♻️ Through take back schemes, resale, donations to charities. (@montyandco I offer a generous take back scheme where you can receive 50% of the garments value RRP in credit) 4 = Choose preloved, Vintage, second hand (@montyandco our Loved 💚 scheme which had been running since 2018 offers regular opportunity to quality purchase second hand preloved Monty & Co styles). 5 = Choose lasting quality, lasting value. Question the cost per wear and the garments value post wear? 6 = Buy Better, Buy Less. Could you commit to only a few choice purchases a year? One in one out? Rule of 5 ( 5 new a year) 7 = Choose transparency. Purchase from brands who disclose where the garments are made, that pay the living wage, that don’t hide the details of their manufacturing processes and provenance. 8 = Avoid Greenwashing brands Brands that produce huge volumes with green marketing in particular 🤔 mass production is not Earth friendly. 9 = Conscious Care Wash at 30 and line air dry where you can. Excessive heat can damage the fibres in your clothes impacting longevity and increased energy use. 10 = Circular Economy Consider the full lifecycle of your clothing, is it designed for circularity, does the brand offer recycling ♻️ or closed loop 🔁 solutions. (Did I mention @montyandco Loved circular scheme 😉) Finally and most importantly if you can only do one thing. LOVE YOUR CLOTHES 💚 Choose timeless style, clothes that make you feel great. Hab die gesammelten Wachsreste eingeschmolzen. Die kleine Wachstorte im Vordergrund besteht aus unbebrütetem Wachs (Entdeckelungswachs von der Honigernte, Wildbau, alten Honigraumwaben aus Naturbau), aus ihr lass ich wieder neue Mittelwände herstellen. Die landen dann wieder in Holzrähmchen eingelötet im Brutraum oder als Anfangsstreifen für Naturwabenbau im Honigraum der Bienen. Eigentlich ist das unbebrütete Wachs etwas heller, aber sobald man ein paar Reste Propolis mit aufschmilzt, wird die Melange dunkler.
