There are no shortcuts. The meaning of life is to give life meaning. This is only done through our compassion and love. Life is hard more often than we’d like it to be. We are placed in circumstances where we have to make decisions. Sometimes our choices benefit us, other times they haunt us. Batman made a choice to be the protector, the vigilante, the peacemaker. He is perceived as the bad guy by some and is seen as a hero to others. Doing good deeds and accomplishing his goal to rid the world of evil is what he lives for. His love for annaylating the currupt, his infatuation for reducing crime and his obsession for holding criminals accountable gives him meaning to life. His desire and passion is fueled by the love that was taken away from him. The love that created him also destoryed him. Each one of us also yearn for love. Some of us have found it, others are searching in the depths of their souls. We are seeking to find meaning in our lives, to place a signifance in our order of the universe. Like a river, your ability to grow and develop as a person will flow and it will nourish your success, wealth and happiness. Success is something we all want, isn’t it? But to be successful takes persistence. Whether you want to lose a few pounds, do well in school, or obtain any goal that you want to succeed in, you need to be persistent. If you want to be with the love of your life, you have to give it all. It is the difference between a successful outcome and a failed one due to giving up. The definition of persistence is the quality that allows someone to continue doing something even though it is difficult or opposed by other people. This is not something you do with external goals, but it is something you do internally. In the face of pain, agony and defeat, it is difficult to stay persistent. Know and accept that there will be obstacles and setbacks; then prepare for them. Nothing important was ever accomplished without adversity, complications and difficulties. One of the ways you can prepare for setbacks and obstacles is to anticipate potential problems and have a contingency plan. If things do not work out the way you hoped, then review the steps you took and the process you followed. Reevaluate by examining what went wrong and where. "next door". When I look back on the many words I have shared over the years, this one has reached the most people. And because I tend to enjoy over-thinking everything 🙃🥴, I naturally wanted to extract what I thought it was that others connected with the most and why. Was it loss? Surely everyone has experienced it in one way or another. Was it grief? Again, many have journeyed with grief and have walked the painstaking path of navigating such a huge and oftentimes confusing emotion. But I think it's more than that. I think we as humans long for comfort. And when we imagine our loved ones having built a home next door rather than having been taken to this vast and distant realm of otherness, we feel like the expanse that lies between us is not so far after all. Like a short walk away. A single breath. A moment of time. And you know what's so good about that? That when we know with all certainty where we are going, the distance doesn't seem so far at all anymore. In fact, the house next door will be your house too. In essence, it is hope that we yearn for - a hope of the greatest reunion of all. This world is not my home, I'm here but for a moment...
