"Rising Petals" deciphers the anxiety of modern human through objects, events, places and phenomena. This collection illustrates the conflict in our minds and strengthens our resolve to stay true to our elements. "Rising Petals" narrates the life of human beings in the form of modern poetry, mixing the real and surreal together. A human life is blessed with its own share of moods, emotions and experiences. The constant struggle of existence is difficult to put down on paper yet we thrive to do better, and feel better. This book is another step to express those simple complexities of what it's called life, just like human emotions. It's a short poetry collection reflecting true nature of life. This book was someting quite different from other poetry books. The writing feels intimate yet it tries to deliver the point to every reader. Poetries are difficult to rate and review. They are intimate to the poet or poetess. For me personally I look into poetry books, the amount of connectedness I feel after reading it. This was a short read for me. Although I can relate with some poems, most didn't go well with me mostly because of the writing. It confused me in areas where the actual meaning of the poem was unclear to me. An okay read for me. "Violent Silence" stemmed from a restless, evasive night's sleep, being so frustrated and helpless with the state of the world in some aspects (and also from the prompt by the wonderful Leah @thesoftword ), as I started the second stanza, I was brushing my teeth and found my mind fluttering to Gaza, to the atrocities going on in Myanmar, Congo, Ukraine - I admire so much the protesting that's been going on to advocate for those who can't use their voices, and even though I wrote this poem earlier in the month, it still definitely feels like it's the right time to get these words out there. I have definitely been trying to write more pieces in a similar tone/nature too, but I have just been finding everything so hard to process lately, too. 🥺💔 Also, please know with my last stanza, I don't mean to cause offence when I talk about a 'higher power', they're truly just my personal beliefs and I often find myself pondering on this, too, like, what would "God" make of everything that's going on? Meeting and Passing by Robert Frost Published in 1916 ☆ It's no secret that I'm quite fond of Robert Frost's poetry. He just has a way with words and is somehow able to communicate situations people have but can't communicate. Meeting and Passing is one of his many poems that does this. I have been reading and rereading for weeks. It still blows me away. I like how he describes initial attraction and human connection in this poem. The speaker describes a rather ordinary scene, him walking down the hill from watching views and passing his beloved as she goes uphill. I say he's speaking to his beloved because of how intimate the details are, and he is addressing the audience as "you." It has this nostalgic feeling as he talks about them meeting. My favorite line is "The figure of our being less than two But more than one as yet." It really captures the connection two people have when they first meet before they come to know one another. Another thing I love about this poem is that I can feel myself reacting as I read it. I start off smiling, then I reach the line ,"And all the time we talked, you seemed to see/Something down there to smile at in the dust," and I know I'm blushing. I have no idea what Frost intended when writing this poem, but I'm so glad he did. What do you think about Meeting and Passing? I'd love to know your thoughts and interpretation of this poem.
