I'm not used to struggling right out of the gates when it comes to cardiovascular exercises. Swimming is so far out of my comfort zone that it's been a humbling experience to say the least. I'm pursuing the opportunity to go to Dive School, and the required PST includes a swim test. It's been years since I have really swam (floating around in the gulf doesn't amount to much apparently) so these first few weeks I've felt like I'm drowning at times. Each time I get in the pool though, I get a little bit of improvement. I've asked a ton of questions to the few swimmers I know and I swear I've seen every "how to correctly breast stroke" video on YouTube. As with anything I've gotten to do in the Navy, I'm enjoying the challenge and chance to push myself. It was like the Rock and Roll Marathon all over again, nutrition failure lol. Today, I did a mini brick #Tri . 1200 Meter #Swim , felt great after. 10 Mile #Bike , didn't drink or eat in prep 3 Mile #Run , gel at start, frog fuel at mile 2. Quads numb at 2.5 miles. But, we continue to build. I didn't fuel before starting activities. Legs felt great at the start of biking. I know already my quads are a weak point, that's where I have been focusing as well to improve. Seat time felt good, as well as the handling. Run was gassing at two miles. I have 67 Day, 9.5 WEEKS I'm 100% terrified, but I'm 100% showing up, regardless if I make the cutoff, survive the bike, or even complete the run. This I me getting out of my comfort zone and doing things I was too nervous or lacked confidence to attempt. I'm trying to #embracethesuck .
