There is some talk around food historians that French toast is not French at all but a dish that is derived from “the Poor Knights of Windsor” a breakfast dish similar to traditional French toast, but instead of vanilla extract , sherry or other booze is added to the mix. På Nordenskiöldsgatan 3 på Sveaplan ligger numera @blindmangobar - Asian fusion med bengaliska influenser. Vi bokade bord för två och blev vänligt bemötta och välkomnade in i den avlånga lokalen som definitivt hade baren i fokus. Menyn såg spännande ut där svenskt blandades med olika asiatiska influenser hejvillt - kul! Vi beställde; Sambal Quesadilla med indonesisk sambal oelek, ost & myntayoghurt (69kr), krämig spenatkyckling marinerad i soja & ostronsås på en bädd av potatismos med cashew- & spenatröra (138kr för en ”liten”) samt asiatisk äggshakshuka i tomatsås med ”5-kryddor” & paprika toppad med olivolja (118kr för en ”liten”). Det dröjde ett bra tag för maten att komma in, 28 minuter närmare bestämt. Först ut var quesadillan. Tyvärr var den lite sval och en del av osten hade stelnat så de kändes påvärmda snarare än nylagade. Presentationen var trist och smaken… Ja, det smakade färdig ostdipp med paprikakrydda och det blev inga ”trådar” som från smält ost utan det kändes snarare som en kräm som stelnat. Inget vi skulle beställa igen. Därefter kom de två övriga rätterna in. De såg trevligare ut och serverades i rykande hett gjutjärn - men att de serverades på exakt samma vis med likadant bröd och likadan yoghurtsås till alla tre rätter var trist. Nåväl. Kycklingen var mör och smakrik och den gröna spenat- & cashewröran bjöd på en del sting och rejält med ingefära. Potatismoset däremot smakade faktiskt pulvermos och var otroligt trist, det smakade vi bara på. Resten lämnade vi. Shakshukan höll värmen otroligt bra och hade riktigt härlig hetta, lätt syra och mustiga smaker. Det var favoriten av de tre rätterna, men vi saknade sälta som hade lyft smakerna. Brödet som serverades till båda rätter kom väl tillpass här för att suga upp det sista ur pannan, men brödet i sig var en riktigt trist. Likaså kändes myntayoghurten såväl malplacerad som oinspirerad till. Personalen var trevlig och deras uteservering var välbesökt, det märktes att folk trivdes och var väldigt förtjusta i deras drinkar. Kanske är det främst därför man går dit, snarare än för maten.

"Beef-ing" up Friday Night with these delicious home made burgers & chips 🍔 🍟 These succulent beef patties were fried for about 6 min on each side so as not to dry them out. Whilst still in the pan, top with a slice of cheese and a slice of grilled onion (which had been frying simultaneously in the same pan so infuse that gorgeous beef flavour from the oil. Served on a lightly toasted bun, with fresh lettuce, a slice of tomato and gherkins. Happy Masters Saturday! ⛳️ Another year getting Taste of the Masters. It feeds 12-14 people, or Kevin & I 😉. This year they added caramel pecan popcorn…delish. He still remembered us and saw us walking up the sidewalk and put his arms out and grabbed us one of his tables. Love the connections we have here!
It’s in my top 3 restaurants when we are in our home away from home, Sarasota. The sushi is fabulous and cocktails are well executed and intriguing. Also, can’t complain that we got $100 in free food last night due to “bartender/kitchen error”. OKAY!!! There are such things as sushi sweats. 🥃🍣🥢
