A moment of reflection 🫶🏽 Today, I took a moment to reflect and be grateful for waking up to see another morning. 11 years ago today, I was in a hospital not knowing if or when I'd go home. Relearning how to walk and staying there for months. Now I don't take any moment for granted. Sitting here brought so much peace and happiness. Buachaille Etive Beag 🏔️ Our second day with @girlsonhillsuk brought more sunshine ☀️ and delivered so many epic views. That might be the reason why we took 7 hours but only 4 of that was spent on the go 😂 too busy taking photos 📸 We bagged Stob Coire Raineach 🏔️and Stob Dubh 🏔️(Munros 29 and 30 for me) and put our new navigation skills into action. Although the main aim of this course was to feel safer on the hills I took so much more than that away with me. The mountains are definitely one of my happy places, if you can’t tell from my beaming smile, and offer a place of calm away from the hustle and bustle of modern life. They give me some much needed headspace to put things into perspective. The ascent is always tough regardless of the weather and even if I’m not rewarded with incredible views, I always feel a sense of achievement and feel so chuffed to reach the top. The other part of the weekend that I loved was the people. Women from all walks of life and different ages all coming together to share their love of the outdoors. So many stories were shared and I learnt so much. Such an encouraging, supportive and inspiring group. Who knew that there is a whistle designed into the clip of my rucksack?!? 🤯🤣 Such an amazing experience and I would 100% recommend doing a course like this if you’re planning on heading out into the mountains. As someone with past connections with mountain rescue, I’ve heard so many devastating stories. Accidents happen but we should be taking responsibility to look after ourselves and others as best we can on the mountain. У Чехії є рай. Праховські скелі є частиною природного заповідника Чеський Рай. Не знаю, чи так виглядає природа в раю, але ці скелі явно трошки як з іншого світу. З кінця 19 століття тут заснували товариство скелелазіння. Полазити можна і зараз. Загалом це чудова дестинація на активну денну поїздку з Праги. На території заповідника декілька похідних маршрутів. І можна додати ще безліч поза платною територією. Любите активний відпочинок на вихідних? Чи більше зустрічі з друзями на келишок десь у місті?

This trail rocked. Literally. There were so many rocks. 😬 After a nearly 750’eg just in the first mile, there was a perfect breeze along the mountain spine that I absolutely welcomed. The trail didn’t have too much happening other than the viewpoint so I decided to challenge myself and see how fast I could do this o&b. All Trails average time is 4h 11m. I completed it in 2h 40m including a 20 minute rest at the viewpoint. Definitely a workout. MUNRO BAGGING 101 with @girlsonhillsuk I’ve been hiking/mountaineering/hill walking for roughly 14 years now 🥾 During this time I’ve had some amazing days on the hills from my first Munro which was the Sgùrr Dearg (In Pinn) on Skye 🤯to ice climbing up Green Gully on Ben Nevis. But I’ve always relied on someone else or the safety of a group like @moray_mc to lead the way. Turning 40 last year made me rethink a lot of things and taking responsibility for my safety on the hills was one of them. So, I decided to book onto the Munro bagging safety course in Glencoe with @girlsonhillsuk ⛰️ On day 1 we met with the course leaders @runclimbswim Hannah and Emma who were so knowledgeable and friendly. We spent the morning at Glencoe Lochan learning about map reading, pacing and taking bearings with the compass 🧭 If you’ve not been to the Lochan I’d recommend it, such a beautiful spot! In the afternoon we headed up to the Devil’s staircase and took it in turns to calculate timings and bearings whilst identifying key features on the map 🗺️ We lucked out with the weather and the sun shone all day ☀️. We also lucked out with our group🥰 Such an amazing bunch of inspirational ladies with so many awesome stories and tips to share. After a jam packed day @debs.reid and I headed to @clachaig_inn for some dinner and AF beers 🍻. First day of trekking the Annapurna circuit! It was a big journey on the way to get to the first tea house the day before, 10 hours with a very bumpy Jeep ride for 2 hours which my Apple Watch said I burnt over 1000 calories from! Good fun 😂 We had no electric or WiFi the first evening which was so refreshing, and we had a candlelight dinner! First hike was 16km, 800km elevation the first half of the day was just unreal, the most insane views and weather. We all felt so grateful, the second part of the day we then experienced so much rain for 3 hours straight, it was challenging towards the end, everything got soaked but equally loved it all. You don’t need a drone to get epic views of Cheddar Gorge. Just a good pair of hiking boots 🥾 and lots of energy! There are lots of lookout points but this is my favourite spot. It’s just after you reach the top on the first leg. The hike is 4 miles but takes around 3 hours (add extra time for photo stops!) and you have to climb it twice; once at the beginning and then again after you cross the road to the other side there’s another steep climb. Maybe a drone would be easier! I’m tempted to get one but can’t quite commit… Who’s got a drone and loves it? Any tips?
