🌿 PALM SUNDAY 🌿 . "When he came near the place where the road goes down the Mount of Olives, the whole crowd of disciples began joyfully to praise God in loud voices for all the miracles they had seen: “Blessed is the king who comes in the name of the Lord!” “Peace in heaven and glory in the highest!” Some of the Pharisees in the crowd said to Jesus, “Teacher, rebuke your disciples!” “I tell you,” he replied, “if they keep quiet, the stones will cry out.” As he approached Jerusalem and saw the city, he wept over it and said, “If you, even you, had only known on this day what would bring you peace—but now it is hidden from your eyes.” Luke 19:37-42 . Just as the people could not be silenced because the long-awaited promise of the Messiah was finally being fulfilled, the church is not silenced this Palm Sunday. Is it hard to be separated from our brothers and sisters today? Yes. Does that mean our HOPE in the same promise given to us today, that the Savior has come and WILL come, has diminished? No! No matter how difficult it gets for the Christian, we STILL HAVE HOPE! The suffering of this time is not worthy to be compared to the glory to come! And just as Jesus wept over the city because the people didn't understand what would bring them peace, that is still His heart for those that don't understand their need for Him and His peace today. . Let's continue to HOPE IN HIS PROMISES and SHARE THE GOSPEL OF PEACE to a lost, broken, hopeless world around us. . FEAR. There is a lot of fear, worry and panic around us right now... I just want to remind you, Christian, that God has not given us a spirit of fear -- we don't have to be afraid! We have hope in the Lord, we can trust Him with everything that is going on, He is aware of what's going on and He cares about each one of us. In response to the world's fear, we can stand firm in the hope and faith we have in the Lord and be a BEACON to those around us who are succumbing to the fears. Christian! We have an opportunity to share the hope we have in Christ! Don't miss out! God has given us a spirit of power so we can stand strong in the Lord against whatever comes our way. God has given us a spirit of love so we can lovingly shine the light of Christ while others are panicking and be gracious to others. God has given us a spirit of a sound mind so we can have peace of mind and steadfastness of emotion despite what threatens to cause fear and panic in our lives. . COUNT IT ALL JOY! . "Dear brothers and sisters, when troubles of any kind come your way, consider it an opportunity for great joy. For you know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow. So let it grow, for when your endurance is fully developed, you will be perfect and complete, needing nothing." James 1:2-4 . . As believers, when the trials and troubles of life hit us, it doesn't have to "ruin our day" because we are being refined through our sufferings! Our faith-muscle is being strengthened, our endurance is growing stronger, we are being made more complete in Christ! To be more Christlike is the ultimate goal of a Christian (Rom 8:29, Phil 2:5, 1 Jn 2:6). Anything that we suffer for Christ doesn't compare to the glory to come (Rom 8:18). This is why we can COUNT IT ALL JOY, why we can consider it an opportunity for joy, because we are being made COMPLETE, we are being made like Christ, we get to be more like Him! I've been praying about starting this account for awhile and praying about what to call it... Lately, in conversations, words of encouragement, and prayers, the phrase that kept coming up was "sustaining grace." And recently a good friend asked me what my obsession with grace is and it helped me put into words what had been in my heart and mind all along. . The word 'sustain' means strengthen or support and also to bear something without breaking or falling, and to cause to continue or be prolonged for an extended period or without interruption. And God's grace is multi-faceted. It's God's unmerited favor in the life of the believer. It covers the provision of salvation, but also forgiveness, justification, daily guidance, enablement, and deliverance or preservation... . So His Sustaining Grace, the way I see it, is the pattern of God's goodness that shows up on a daily basis, in spite of our circumstances that are trying to rob us of the joy of the Lord, the sweet reminders the Lord gives in our moments of great difficulty, those little things that are light breaking through our darkness, and all the things that we can be thankful for through the trials. It's all the little 'good' things that give us the hope, strength and joy we need to press on through it all. . I hope and pray you will begin to see God's Sustaining Grace in your everyday life; all the good ways He shows up when stuff gets rough!
