I'm easy to find (2019) I got around to finally watching it after reading @ohcinema 's post about it. This short film features music from one of my favorite bands, The National, which was what actually made me watch it. This is an incredibly beautiful short film, one that made me feel some very poignant feelings. Right from the first frame, you're engaged and it leaves you with a very heavy, weighty feeling by the time you're done watching. I also chose to watch it at 3 AM, and we know everything is sadder, more intense after midnight. There's barely any dialogue, the film is essentially a woman's biography; from her birth to her death and everything in between. Mike Mills also directed 20th Century Women (which I've also talked about on this page) and his experience in directing music videos is very present in his later works, especially in this short film. The direction is very musical, rhythmic with a distinct artsy style. It felt like watching a painter paint beautiful brush strokes on a canvas and like I was actually watching a painting coming to life. It even felt surreal at points, especially with the music which was the only dominant sound throughout the film. The profoundness of so many aspects of human life such as loneliness, a search for companionship, internal conflicts, identity conflicts, familial conflicts and the emotions that you can't even describe most times are portrayed with such sensitivity, such beauty. To capture the depth of this heavy humanness, which is extremely overwhelming, is an incredible art and I applaud this film for doing it so well. To live is a task and a tough one at that and anything that tells that story without any frills, any reservations is valuable. Alicia Vikander is an actor I adore very much and her range as an actor shined here. This film packed more impact in 27 minutes than most things I have watched do in hours. It's available on Youtube and is easily accessible, please give it a watch.
