Wine party at backyard, celebrating spring season 🥳 - 2017 Kostra Browne Cerise Vineyard Chardonnay: Ripe lemon, apple, pineapple. Great mineral and acidity (surprising given rich fruit nose), moderate amount of oak touch, good balance. Noticeably California style in a pleasant way. - 2012 Joseph Phelps Pastorale Vineyard Pinot Noir: Directly purchased from the winery (Ex-Chateau), served blind. Pastorale is more feminine style than Quartermoon but this tastes little richer than I remember. Still lively fruit, black cherry, plum, spice. Nice sweet fruit, not too big, well-balanced finish. Thought it is from California, especially Santa Lucia Highland (more sunshine, black cherry and baking spice). Drink much younger than its age thanks to perfect storage condition. - 2018 Fingers Crossed Off The Record Grenache: Younger Krankly family wine, super famous for Sine Qua Non. Rich red and black fruit, intense licorice, floral spice, very pretty and unique. Juicy and savory, big big wine but somehow pretty balanced with acidity, layered texture, complexity. Wonderful drinking experience with this unique juice. - 2018 Saxum Broken Stone: Good comparison with Fingers Crossed Grenache. As 49% of Syrah, mose blue fruit, smoke, pepper, dark chocolate, crushed violet nose. Amazing blueberry from signature Saxum character. Full-bodied with acidity, juicy tannin, loooong finish. This is why I love Broke Stone 😍 - 2012 Quilceda Creek Cabernet Sauvignon: Amazing dense black fruit, dark chocolate, spice, lots of graphite, pretty deep fruit. Full-bodied, still prominent and masculine tannic structure, extremely drinkable. - Kosta Browne Russian Rivervalley Pinot noir 2017 구입처 : 몰테일 일본직구 구입가 : 17-18만원대(세금 배송료포함) 맛 : 8 / 10 가성비 : 6 / 10 재구매의사 : 5/ 10 요약 : 취향을 떠나서 맛있고 좋은 와인 - 사실 와인을 취향을 찾기위해 지역별로 이리저리 마셔본건 요 최근의 일이다. 미국와인은 꽤나 내 취향과는 거리가 맞지 않았다. 꼭 버터향이 짙은 루의 질감과 향이랄까 가끔 위스키에서나 느끼던 꿀과 캬라멜에 가까운느낌까지... - 이건 맛있더라, 맛있게 과하지 않게 잘 마셨다. 밸런스도 여운도 좋고 복합미도 나름 준수한데다가 과실향도 아주 좋았고, 좀 째미한느낌도 있긴했다. 그래도 과실과실한 느낌이 아주 기분 좋았다. 오크도 과하게느껴지진않았는데, 왜이리 느끼한느낌이 자꾸드는지 모르겠다. 잔당감도 적잖이 느껴지고,, 상대적으로 이 마시기 편하게느껴지는 잔당감과 버터의 느낌이 첫잔의 임팩트는 강렬한데 비해 한병을 다 못비우게하는 원흉이 아닌가 싶다. 여럿이서 마실땐 너무 좋을듯 - 그럼에도 산미와 탄닌감 알콜과 적당한 잔당감의 이 구조가 정말 밸런스가 좋긴했다. 내가 스시를 별로 안좋아해도 어느정도 수준이 넘는다면 좋은 스시라는건 인지할 수 있듯이, 미국와인을 좋아하진 않아도 이건 맛있고 잘 만든 와인이다.

Last night’s wines were a treat! 1999 Roederer Estate, L’Ermitage Brut Rosé, Anderson Valley, CA (magnum) 2010 Kosta Browne Winery, Pinot Noir, Gaps Crown Vineyard, Sonoma Coast, CA 2019 The Storm Cellar, M+M, Muscat and Malvasia, Grand Valley, CO All three were drinking great! The Roederer was brought by friends and was amazing. Subtle oxidative notes were lovely balanced with delicate stone fruit tones. The KB may have been my favorite experience of their wines, and I’ve tried a lot. The usual massive texture had softened considerably, and had it in a perfect place. Fruit, spice, florals…it was just ethereal. And one of the very last bottles of our our M+M. The idea behind this wine led to the creation of the aromatic white wine we currently make called “All The Flowers”, but it started here. Beautiful fruit and aromatics, and an amazing mouthfeel and viscosity. Good times last night.
