Man, I haven’t been doing a great job of posting my artwork ☠️ here’s a little something from last summer “The Pendulum of Gentle Teeming” priced at $800 African Blackwood, and Pink Ivory wood rings for the chain. All 27 cut by hand (natural color too, no dyes or enhancements) 🐝 carrying a natural gypsum polyhedron, wrapped in .925 sterling silver💕✨ Gypsum: A hydrated calcium sulphate mineral and incredibly soft, weighing in at a 2 on the Mohs scale. Metaphysically, gypsum is associated with balance, stability, and grounding. Often offering a foundation of mental calm and clarity, the stone is also believe to link with all 7 chakras, encouraging energetic cleansing and flow. African Blackwood: with a Janka hardness of 3,670lbf this wood is one of the hardest on the planet and comes with a rich history. It is renowned for its strength, brilliant luster with turning, and durability against the elements. Metaphysically, this wood is believed to serve as a medium between the physical and spiritual realms. This wood is associated with the elements of earth, water, spirit and is often used as a shield against other energies as well, making it quite desirable for magic relating to death. I’ve never really used a pendulum for anything, I know they’re commonly used in divination though. This was one of those pieces I just felt, incredibly compelled to create. I got to go! Dad’s friend @theadventurehuskies said this was “beginner-friendly”. 😮 hikers are such terrible people ... I can never figure out if they are intentionally misleading me or just horrible, horrible judges of time and distance... . The Late 22 Trail could be one of my 'bestist' favorite trails- covering just over 6 mi (with a detour or two) and climbing almost 1500 ft- . it meanders through old growth forests that are incredible, a number of switchbacks through the talus that is definitely memorable, and then snow covered trails for the last portion up to the lake... . I had misjudged my conditioning and carried a full pack, hoping to test out some snowshoes for my other half while I was up there.... I was so very very wrong and for the first time on a trail ended up stashing my pack just over 2/3 of the way up in this incredibly cool hollowed out tree . I then asked four different hikers over the next 15 minutes "How much further to the lake?" in my infinite wisdom I had not yet checked my trail apps so I figured 'why not be social' 😥 . The answers 1) You are 2/3 of the way there 2) Amost there, a few more switchbacks 3) You are about halfway 4). Just another 15 minutes (almost an hour) . As I have discovered on other trails, never never ever ever ask a person on the way down how far it is to the top . But, on the flip side, I totally loved this trail with all of its diversity . 😮🤓😮 . #lake22 trail #alpinetrailsystems #hikerslie😥 .
🤔❄️🤔 seriously !?!?! How did I not know? . Just over a month ago, I went to Heather Lake, which is only a stone's throw and a sneeze away from here- a similar small alpine Lake hidden by shielded and encircled by the same mountains... . I remember being slightly disappointed as I rounded the snowfilled switchback- expecting to see a lake- in that there was no lake- well, there was a lake, but because it is winter, it was covered in ice and the ice covered by snow ❄️😥❄️ . . So as I rounded the last bend dropping down on this nearby Alpine Lake, expecting to see Lake Serene type beauty surrounded by snow covered mountains, how did I not figure it out in advance that once again I would see no lake, only what looks like a huge open meadow covered in snow 😥😥😥... . So here, along with me, enjoy the beauty of late 22 and it's surroundings . (I will post some photos for further clarification (blow up photo 2), but as I went to Trek around the lake, the avalanche warnings were readily apparent and correct- there were at least six or seven avalanche trails on the far side mountains running over the pathway)... . #lake22 #heatherlake #sonetimesilaughatme #alpinelakes .

Lake 22… it was my 10th time doing this hike in winter this year. Every year I do it with some lady friends and it’s such a fun tradition. Looking back on these old photos, it’s wild to see how I’ve grown as a person compared to the girl in these pictures. This hike used to be really hard for me, it’s now a chill, quick sunset hike. A reminder that everyone starts somewhere. I’m so thankful for everyone women who has hiked this trail with me and has also walked through life with me. Also, this was Zamora’s first time back at this hike in 3 years (since she wasn’t able to do this hike 2 years ago, being almost paralyzed and then still regaining muscle last year).
