Scandinavia 2019: Stage 30 Senjahopen - Tromsø⠀ ⠀ A last day of island hopping.⠀ ⠀ The midnight sun woke me up during the night, shining bright through the window. At 6.30am I was ready to leave. I had a last ferry crossing and wanted to be in Tromsø in the afternoon.⠀ ⠀ I enjoyed being alone on the road along the fjord. At the bottom of the fjord, I cycled through a valley connecting Mefjordbotn to Støynesbotn and arrived at the Botnham ferry pier around 9.15am. Thirty minutes later the ferry left Senja to dock 35 minutes later at the Brensholmen pier on Kvaløya.⠀ ⠀ After two hours of cycling along the fjord, the road followed an ancient glacier valley between the Nordfjord and the Kaldfjord. Around 3pm I cycled over the Sandnessund Bridge connecting Kvaløya to Tromsøya, came along Tromsø Airport and arrived at my hotel downtown Tromsø around 4pm.⠀ ⠀ After haven taken a shower, I walked over the Tromsø Bridge (Tromsøbrua) connecting Tromsøya to the mainland, came along the Artic Cathedral and took the Cable Car (Fjellheisen) to the Storsteinen viewpoint 420 meter a.s.l. and enjoyed the breathtaking view of the city and the surrounding islands and fjords from the outdoor viewing deck. ⠀ ⠀ The weather forecast had been right and I was so thankful for a wonderful week of cycling on the islands. Harbingers of a weather change, clouds were still invading the sky.⠀ 🚴🏼♂️⠀
Scandinavia 2019: Stage 28 Sortland - Bleik (Andøya/Vesterålen)⠀ ⠀ Another day of island hopping.⠀ ⠀ I left the camping site around 7.45am, enjoyed a fast descent down to the sea and climbed over the Sortland Bridge (Sortlandsbru, 948 m) connecting Langøya to Hinnøya. I followed road 82 northward and reached the Andøy Bridge (Andøybrua), connecting Hinnøya to Andøya across the 750 m wide Risøysundet strait around noon.⠀ ⠀ I moved onto Andøya, the northernmost island in the Vesterålen archipelago. The headwind had now freshened and it intensified while moving further north. The terrain was flat and there was nothing to hide from the wind. As road 82 turned inland, I cycled side by side with a german holidaymaker on a mountainbike for a few kilometers, making me forget the wind. Sea fog began to invade the sky and as I finally arrived in Andenes, it was totally covered. I went to a supermarket to buy food for dinner, then cycled back to the intersection at the village entrance and followed road 7702 along the western coast to a camping site in Bleik. While I was preparing my dinner, the wind blew the see fog away and the sun shone again. After dinner I enjoyed the sunshine sitting in front of my cabin until the sea fog came again and temperature dropped.⠀ 🚴🏼♂️⠀

Vera Lúcia gentilmente compartilhou fotos de sua viagem pela Via Claudia Augusta, tendo apenas sua bike como companhia. Ela decidiu levar na bike alforges Mainstream-MSX, resistentes e impermeáveis. Construída há aproximadamente 2000 anos, a Via Claudia Augusta foi uma estrada utilizada pelos romanos para transportar mercadorias do centro do império para as províncias germânicas do norte, através dos Alpes. Hoje, transformada em trajeto turístico, a via é percorrida por ciclistas do mundo inteiro. Como ela se constitui, predominantemente, de ciclovias interligadas, as bicicletas fazem parte da paisagem. O percurso total é de 770 km, e inicia em Donauwörth, na Alemanha, passa pela Áustria, Suíça e vai até a Itália, bifurcando-se em Trento, e tendo como destinos finais Veneza ou Ostiglia. We are very sure, that was just a matter of our missing Omani Guide .. 😉 (March 2019) ___________________ Auf den Weg ins Dorf Misfat am nächsten Morgen sehen wir bereits viele Touristen jeweils mit einem Omani-Guide in die historische Siedlung strömen. 🏃🏼♀️🏃 Vorbei am Schild (Schultern und Knie sollen aus Respekt bedeckt werden) fragen wir uns, ob dies wirklich ernst gemeint ist, da wir sehr viele Leute mit kurzen Hosen, Minirock und Top sehen. 🤔 Es ist halt echt heiß, da hat keiner so richtig Lust, sich extra viel anzuziehen. Als wir Misfat betreten, wird Gnubbi nach ein paar Metern harsch zurückgewiesen, kurze Radhosen.. das ginge gar nicht! Die Preise sind alle recht gesalzen, aber da haben wir nun keine Wahl. 😜 Unsere Zelte bauen wir schließlich oben auf die Düne. Cycling above 4000m in Peru often means 2 things... Mountains and mines! Just a stone's throw out of the mining town of Cerro de Pasco (at just over 4300m) we stumbled across what looked like radio active lakes (swipe left) as snowy peaks loomed in the distance. There was only one strange thing happening as we wanted to sleep. 🤔 We heard a lot of shots like from machine guns close to us, although there was no military area. After maybe half an hour it stopped again and we stopped to wonder, what it was as well, and fell asleep immediately. 😴 (30.01.2019) ______________________________ Diesen schönen Ort in einer alten Karawanserei haben wir gefunden, nachdem wir 101 km zurückgelegt hatten. 🙆 Die Mauern schützten uns vor Blicken und Straßenlärm. Doch eine Sache war seltsam, als wir gerade schlafen wollten: 🤔 Wir haben viele Schüsse wie von Maschienengewehren in unserer Nähe gehört, obwohl es weit und breit kein Militärgebiet gab.
